"Thank you so much [Member] for the positive review. If you require any touch-ups or anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. Be well! -bob"
Quote process was straightforward and reasonable. Scheduling was easy. I was worried about them working in the stairwell, however, they cleaned up at the end of each day so it was never an issue, not even with our toddler running around. The crew was nice, professional, punctual. The rooms look great, I can't believe we didn't do this years ago when we bought the house.

We received the estimate, written up on a formal proposal, within a few days. The proposal outlined all the services we asked for and gave us the price. None of the other three companies provided this level of detail in their estimates. Prices ranged from $4,500 to $1,900. Tree City's price was slightly higher than one other quote, but we went with them because they would be using multiple painters and we thought that would be advantageous since we had a lot of heavy furniture that needed to be moved around.
The painters arrived March 12 and prepared the rooms for painting using many drop cloths and plastic covers. They also did wall and ceiling repairs. They started and completed the painting over the next three weekdays. All the painters were very polite and professional throughout the four days they were in our home. They arrived when they said they would, cleaned up after themselves, and other than nicely painted walls and ceilings, left no traces that they had been in the house. The painting was done superbly with crisp trim, ceiling, and wall lines. This was my first professional paint job in forty years and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and timeliness of the work. Bob Bauer and his crew were excellent and we would use them again in a heartbeat.
"[member name removed], Clients that leave reviews like this make all our efforts worthwhile. It is refreshing to meet someone so easy to work with and respectful of our craft. It was a pleasure to work with you on your home and I wish nothing but the best to you and yours in the future. Thanks again, your review really lifted my spirits after a long winter. Enjoy the spring!!! -Bob"
- When they came for the quote, they stressed that their emphasis was on details and quality, assuring customer satisfaction. This proved true at first, but went downhill. As time went on, one of the workers came for irregular, short periods of time only. I understand there were some personal issues going on, and the other guy was very reliable, so we didn't really worry too much. The job ended up taking several days longer than quoted. We did change our mind on one color and they were good about re-painting (which of course we gladly paid for), but the rest of the job had already gone over.
- As time went on, the lines were not as crisp, the spackling and hole filling were not as thorough, and drips and marks could be found. Paint was found on objects and some places around the house that did not get cleaned up. There were some little places where the paint didn't completely cover, or that were missed entirely. They told us that they would be happy to fix anything we found - and we are not picky people! - but it soon became clear that wasn't really the case. We understand the nature of painting and that it is nowhere near perfect, and in the evenings we would look around and debate which things were worth pointing out and which to just leave as they were. We pointed out only the things that were obvious or problematic. One worker was happy to help, but the other (the owner) actually said, "If you're going to be this picky, we are going to have a problem!" After repeatedly saying they wanted to get every detail right at the beginning of the process and us only picking and choosing the things that really needed attention, we were surprised by this statement and attitude. We were left with a sour taste and some details around the house where we still look and shake our heads. It's fine, but definitely not great or anything like what they came in saying.

"Thanks (member name removed) . . . clients like you are THE BEST. Be well. -Bob"

Several people (including our movers and blinds guy) have stated that they paint was done really well. The paint had low odor, so it was easy to be around immeadiatly after painting. They used Pittsburg Paints, so I selected colors from that company, but they will color match any sample you have. They protected our floor and countertops with drop clothes. I have been very happy and will call them again, when we paint the rest of the rooms in the house.
I emailed Bob after the holidays and he called me back within an hour and offered me $50 or to come fix everything. He said it would probably take a few days to get everything done, which seemed like an over-estimate to me, but we agreed to meet the day after next so he and his team could fix things up.
Now, this is when things went south. Within 10 minutes, Bob called me back and said he wouldn't be able to come and fix the mistakes due to personal problems. He told me that I could leave negative feedback (which I'm doing), or sue him (I'm not that vindictive), or do whatever I had to do, but he was done. He literally said that several times, "I'm done." Based on our phone conversation, it seems like this is not the best time for Bob. This is unfortunate because he was extremely nice and professional up until this point and I do wish him and his family the best. However, I sadly cannot recommend Tree City Painting to anyone at this time.
One thing to note about Bob... he under-promises and over-delivers every time. It's nice to know that I'll never have to worry about finding a painting contractor again. I can recommend Tree City without hesitation.
The way it worked for us is we put down a deposit of $600 when they started the work, then they showed up promptly at 9am with a crew of 4. While 3 of them got started the 4th went to get the paint supplies. They set up a "home base" in my garage and got to work every day. Bob had recommended that instead of going with the brand of paint we selected to computer match with a brand he recommended (PPG), which saved us some money. I am not an expert on paint though, so I just deferred to his expertise.
Over the course of the week the team painted the house. On some days there'd be only 2, and on some days 4 would show up, so there was a kind of rotation going on throughout the week. Since I work from home I asked them to finish one room first so that I could have a place to work while they completed the house, which they had no problems doing. Before they left every day they told me when they were planning on showing up the next day and what rooms they would be working on, which was great so I could shuffle around things from room to room. They also cleaned up every day before leaving, so the dropdown cloths and all the other stuff they used to cover things in the house weren't in our way when they weren't around.
Overall his crew was really professional, they were speedy and quiet and answered all my dumb questions about paint. You can really tell that these guys really care about their craft, and my house looks great.
I originally asked for them to seal my garage floor too, but Bob recommended I wait at least 6 months for the new concrete to finish setting. I will certainly hire them again to finish off the garage and probably seal up my basement floor as well.
