Rick is extremely thorough! He took his time during the inspection, looked at every corner of the house, and explained things clearly - often times giving us great suggestions for maintaining certain aspects of the property. This was the second inspection we had go through with Rick ( the first home we had him inspect had quick a few and quot;big ticketand quot; issues). The first inspection was equally as thorough, and he was honest and up front about the amount of work the first home needed. My husband and I really appreciated his honesty, and after the inspection we made the choice to continue to search for another home that would better suit our needs. If Rick hadn't been as thorough and honest, we probably would have gotten ourselves into a situation of buying a home we didn't have time or the financial ability to care for. For the second home, Rick gave us a slight discount on the inspection price since we were and quot;frequent customersand quot; which was totally unexpected, and again gave us an honest and thorough review of the property. It is very apparent he has expert-level knowledge of home construction, and knows a lot of great little tricks for maintaining the upkeep of your home. He took the time to explain things and allowed me to see what and quot;he sawand quot; by telling me what to look for and showing me how to operate things (hot water heater, how to change the filter, how to work the humidifer, etc.). He was in close contact with our realtor (The Bouma Group - another wonderful group of people) sending copies of the inspection (which we asked him to do) to our closing agent and following up with her the next day. He also let us know we could contact him any time with questions. He also set up and coordinated the radon and pest inspections so we didn't need to make multiple calls, and give us the info we needed to contact the city about updates to the sewer line. I would recommend Rick Brower to anyone needing a home inspection in the Ann Arbor area!

Needing a quick turnaround on an inspection, we called Rick the evening our offer was accepted. Despite having a family member in the hospital, he found time first thing the next morning to help us out. He is an outstanding inspector, differentiating what problems need to be fixed from the "nice to haves". In addition, he explained to us tips to maintain and upkeep various parts of the house during the walkaround. Inspection lasted about 2.5 hours for a two-story colonial. Excellent written report provided. This was our second experience - he previously inspected a house for us we did not close on (based largely on some significant items he found during his inspection). In that case, on his own accord he called in a foundation expert to supplement his own evaluation of what was required to properly shore up a damaged basement. Highly recommended.

The inspection was thorough. He had suggested that we check for orangeburg pipe and it turns out we do have orangeburg pipe. He ended up us saving us thousands in plumbing and electrical work that the seller was responsible for.
