PERKINS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

Our call was returned within 2 hours and we scheduled the visit for 2 days later.  The workman was on time, efficient, and knew what he was doing.  It took him about 2 hours to finish the job. 
We have used Perkins in the past for a major kitchen and bath remodel and were happy with their work then.  We would use them again for any interior carpentry/remodel/handyman job, large or small.  We are impressed with their honesty and prompt response. 

They have great quality. It went good. They may not be the fastest but the quality is great. They came when they said they would be. They cleaned up everything.

I give an A in my book on Perkins. Whenever I had a question I got a response with in an hour, and that's unusual with construction people these days.

They were efficient in the repair, notified us when they would need to
come back to put on a second coat of mud, then back to sand. Then they
notified us when they were on their way. They cleaned up any mess they
made and did a nice job. We had given them a short timeline because we
had a large party scheduled and the work was done in time for us to have
it painted.

Overall, we were very happy with Perkins' work.
The Estimate: We talked with five different remodeling companies and handymen, all well rated by Angie's List. After talking with all of them by phone, we narrowed the list to a handyman company and Perkins to come to the house and provide an estimate. Perkins sent Joe to the house and he provided a very professional assessment and recommendation on the work that needed to be done. The handyman company was very professional as well, but their project manager didn't have as strong a sense of how the work would proceed. He needed to rely on other subcontractors to provide a recommendation. The estimates from both companies came in very close in price, so I think Perkins had a reasonable quote for the work.
Timing: We scheduled to work to begin August 22, a date which Joe said he would try to meet. Unfortunately, the workers got hung up on another job and didn't start until August 24. Not a huge setback, but disappointing since we were trying to get the work done before we moved into the house and only had a few days. To be fair, Joe did say that scheduling remodeling projects is a fluid thing. This was our first project so I don't know what is standard. Joe did provide advance notice and he and the crew were always there when promised.
The Work: The project went off smoothly and was done in 3 days, right on target. The carpenter was professional and the work was done quickly - I could see progress each day. We are very happy with the end result and glad that we hired Perkins.

I think I covered everything in the prior box. I would not hesitate to contact them again for any size project.

Very upfront with quote and pricing and time schedule , most things were very close to budgeted quote . We took the slow approach with a 2 man team for most of the work , project was in completed in 4 and half months.But was known before hand.

Curtious and proffesional workers , new what they were doing. at all times , First 2 weeks were a litle overwhelming, we had flooding 3 times in existing basement 2 due to excavating, 1 due to turential rainfall and building was in the process of converging new part to existing structure and due to rain had many leaks

Remaining time till finish was on schedule and with quaility work. Also we added a full metal roof to the whole house during project

Went very well. showed up when they were supposed to, and the job was done quickly and correctly. I had called them after not getting return calls from other companies, and although they mainly do larger projects, they do smaller handyman-type stuff in-between. We didn't have a firm date scheduled, as our job was fill-in work, and I was ok with that. The new door had been sitting in the garage for 4 months(bought it at an auction), so waiting a couple of weeks wasn't a big deal. The charges are by the hour, so I had a good idea how much it would cost up front. I planned to do the finish work on my own, and since the work they did was all level and plumb, my job was easy. If I have a large or small project in the future, I will definitely contact them for an estimate to do the work.
