My furnace went out this morning, just as a cold front was moving in. I called Indoor Comfort at 2.30pm. Jimmy was here at 4pm, and the ignition system was replaced by 4.30pm. All is now working perfectly. Amazing service, great people, I couldn't be happier.

Technician arrived near end of appt window (1-4 pm). Asked about AC problems, checked outside unit and determined it was low on coolant, most likely a leak somewhere. Didn't really see any obvious signs of a leak though, other than the low coolant. So maybe it's a very small leak outdoors. So he refilled the coolant and used an off the shelf leak sealant (about the size and appearance of a glow stick). I spent the entire time (45-60) minutes with the technician. He explained everything he was doing and answered any questions I had. Our AC was working as expected after he left and has been for a few days now. However, due to the nature of the problem we won't really know for sure if the repairs were fully successful for some time, possibly even next season. I only have a very small amount of concern, which is in regards to what the next steps would be if these repairs don't seem to fix our problem. Admittedly, our outside unit is 30 years old. So it's getting up there in age. However, it appears to be working as expected, maybe there's just a leak somewhere in the lines. But the technician suggested getting a whole new outside unit in addition to having the lines redone. Not so sure about needing the new unit just yet, as if the problem is a leak in the lines then just redoing those should be sufficient. So it seems like there should be some investigation into where the leak is actually occurring before spending thousands on a new unit. Overall I am satisfied with the work though.

Originally they were called our for a leak. I was told they fixed it but It continued to leak. Later discovered the tank itself was leaking. They handled the warranty and install of the new tank and did a good job. It seemed the guys they sent out had less experience, Maybe it was just with indirect hot water heaters like installed in my house. The work seemed to be performed satisfactory and with no issues. They were at my house about 4 hours longer than they initially estimated but the price was the same. Price was for install only. I do feel it was high but they were the only company listed to handle the warranty on my triangle tube system.

"Thank you for the review. Warranty issues can be tricky, and we try our best to be direct with the jobs- as was shown with the cost not changing when the job took 4 hours longer than anticipated. We will always do what we say we're going to do. We know spending money on water heaters isn't fun. We appreciate your business and your review."

They came Tues 10/29 after we had no heat 10/23-10/25 Harriman heating, Inc of Livonia came out & spent an hour. They explained my Amana furnace purchase 2004 was mfg is 1998(why this matters is that the furnace was 20 yrs old, not 14/attendant implications of part support) Heat went out again Sun 10/28. I then called & asked if I could reinstate the appt I had conscientiously cancelled 10/26. Happily I could. Jimmy came out & explained what was wrong. Better yet while we were waiting for ordered pressure switch, he showed me & my husband how to turn off the furnace, take off the plastic/rubber tube, blow to clear it til we could hear the vale close , and hopefully work to trigger the furnace.) WEl low & behold the next Sun. early 11/4, the thermostat read 50. (We have a fireplace & stack cord wood on hand that supplemented our temps from 50 to 62-63 during the day) I'd like to be able to tell you his teaching efforts lead to furnace restart. It didn't I'm calling them 8:01a Mon. 11/5 to find if part is in & when they can schedule installation. Stay tuned for successful resolution--we hope. I am budgeting for a new furnace for next year however because the furnace is older than I thought. EVnote below cost+ 2 service calls Harriman & Indoor plus the part (and installation?)

"We did install that part on Monday the 5th as you mentioned. We haven't heard back so we assume you are all toasty warm :) We're so glad you purchased a maintenance agreement so we can come out yearly and do a full cleaning of your system. Each year we do this you are welcome to ask as many questions as you'd like to better understand your system. Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We appreciate your feedback!"

Indoor comfort has replaced my water heater and my furnace; both work was done in a timely manor and with friendly service. When the furnace was being replaced it was winter and I had little ones in the house and they brought space heaters to keep us warm while they were doing the work; very thoughtful and over and above customer service. Also when my water heater broke it was the evening before we were to leave for a vacation; Indoor Comfort was able to come by that night to assist

The installers were professional and knowledgeable, and scheduling the installation was simple. They offered a good price for the right furnace for our house, and didn't push any extra costs or upgrades. They left the furnace area cleaner than it was to begin with -- from start to finish, great service at a very good price.

This is a summary review of 4 different visits over the last several months. Greg was my tech each time. He is very professional and knowledgable and shares information readily. In my old house he repaired my furnace and then my AC unit quickly and at a fair price. In my new condo he repaired my water heater and then performed PM's on my AC unit and furnace. No complaints at all for any of his visits!

First, I don’t like giving Indoor Comfort a low rating. The installers are first rate and, while I had a few very minor problems at installation (like not remembering to turn the hot water heater back on), the installers were all very professional and just a nice set of people. There is a disagreement, which I suggest your research and have a discussion with the company prior to installing a two stage furnace regarding the role of the thermostat in managing the way the two stages are used in a heating cycle. The Bryant furnace I bought has an algorithm built into the furnace that uses an average of the last twenty heat cycles to determine the balance of Stage 1 and Stage 2 in the current heat cycle. At least that is my understanding of it. The is probably only a problem when you have large temperature swings, as Michigan can have. This also makes it that the installers do not have to run a new thermostat wire, since most older homes do not have the six line wire required to wire the thermostat as a two stage thermostat. I’ve read things on the internet, which makes me an expert (ha ha), that say you have to wire the thermostat for two stages to get the full benefit of the furnace. The bottom line is that I suggest you look into this and discuss with with your installers prior to signing the bottom line. Finally, and this is where the rating drops, they sent out a service tech to see if my furnace is running correctly, after I expressed concern about the thermostat not being wired for both stages. After the cursory hello, the Tech then asked me if I had a voltage meter? I don’t, and even if I did I wouldn’t go poking around in the furnace with it. So he said “well I do,” and proceeded to go over the super high efficiency of the furnace. I already knew that or I wouldn’t have bought the furnace. Why did he ask me if I had a voltage meter? After his “dog and pony” show went on for too long, I broke him away to turn the topic to the thermostat. His answer eventually became “we gave you that fancy wifi thermostat for people that are into that stuff.” It was a very snide comment, the thermostat was in my quote so I think I paid for it. I would think that Indoor Comfort does not see the “fancy wifi stuff” as going the way of the Dodo Bird. Anyway, it was an extremely contentious discussion (which I had my part in.) In the end he said he would have Indoor Comfort get back with me to let me know the cost of wiring the thermostat to work with the furnace. I have not heard back yet. To summarize things, I’m not saying that I am correct regarding the thermostat -vs- the algorithm, I’m saying that the way it has been handled has not been adequate. More service tech really upset me for having chosen Indoor Comfort for buying my furnace.

"Thank you for your feedback regarding our service technician's communication. We are always trying to improve and we have discussed this example in detail. Please accept our apologies and be assured that the issue has been handled and you request noted. We hope that our detailed emails and phone messages have helped to sort out the thermostat functionality. We look forward to continuing to work with you on your system so we can come to a resolution where you are satisfied with the furnace installation and our work as a whole."

Terrific company. My air conditioner stopped working on a hot day - I called Indoor Comfort and they had a mechanic out within 2 hours (Saturday). He identified the problem (not fixable) so I had him estimate a replacement. After discussions I elected to replace both furnace and air conditioner. They were knowledgable and thorough. They solved some difficult piping problems in a very innovative manner. Workers were very professional. When the city inspector came, he also complimented the work and pointed out several small but important additions that made the final product even better. This is a quality company from the front office to the front line.
Response from Indoor Comfort Heating & Cooling
"We strive to have the most qualified employees both in service and install who work to the customer's best interest. We will always fix a unit, if possible, when the customer chooses. But when it's time for a replacement, we're there for you. Providing the highest level of trustworthy service and installation is key to maintaining the great reputation our small locally owned business has. Thank you for the review and the trust you placed in us to take care of your home."
