Good, thorough cleaning. Professional and courteous from quote to work completion.
More expensive than some other cleaning services in the area, but also better quality of work.

Went very well for a long time (> 2 years), but in latter period, there seemed to be significant turnover and the thoroughness and reliability decreased. Eventually, I thought the service was not worth the cost. My ratings reflect the later period.

They are on time, and very polite. They always take care of the things that might be extras for the week. For example if we need something cleaned that normally is not cleaned (i.e.: The office) they are always more than happy to accommodate and in most cases do so without any additional charge.

If you're looking for professional cleaning, this is not the right company. They do basic cleaning. They are not detail oriented. They do not try to come up with solutions to do thorough cleaning. Although I told them that I need the light fixtures to be cleaned, they did not bring any stool or ladder with them. Similarly, I asked for cleaning paint drops, they did not bring any chemicals, equipment for that. For mediocre quality basic cleaning, the price of $65/hr for two people is too high.
I also had window cleaning, which is also unsatisfactory. The cleaner was a nice guy and worked hard but my expectations were higher when you're being charged $2 per pane per side of window. The storm windows and screen are not removed, so only the one side of the inner windows and the storm windows are cleaned. The dirt and molding in the inside of storm windows and screens are also not cleaned for many windows.
I am not sure about the quality of the gutter cleaning as I don't see it, hoping that he did a good job.
Won't use this company any more.

For the initial cleaning, they charged hourly, but for the remaining cleanings, they now charge a fixed fee. For the initial cleaning, two employees came to do the work, which cut on the total time they were in the home. They did a good job. There were a few areas that they missed and cleaned only superficially, but once we pointed the areas out, they cleaned them. We have them now scheduled to do regular cleanings.

The workers are very well prepared and work from a pre-prepared "outline" written by one of their supervisors. The work is performed diligently and quickly and I have no reservations in recommending this service (which is also less expensive than some competing companies).

UPDATE:
We were billed for 187.00
The instructions given were :
"Clean these two rooms. If you have time, clean the other areas"
I honestly do not know what work was performed, because they did not call us before arrival. The site manager tells me that there were cleaning people in the building but the rooms we instructed them to clean (by number) had not been cleaned. I have photos to prove this.
We went to the other areas and there was plenty of dirt in shelves, on sills, and everywhere else that would have been cleaned with a deep cleaning.
I'm baffled about this, and we don't have time to follow up on this with the vendor.

"Without approaching us directly regarding this cleaning, we have no opportunity to respond other than by posting to this public review. Given that the reviewer is in Texas and the cleaning was in Michigan, we must assume the information regarding the cleaning was provided by another source. The client called our office for this rush cleaning. This cleaning was for a group residence above a bar in Lansing. There was no site manager – a female bartender that unlocked the rooms. She had no instructions for the crew and no idea what was supposed to be done. The bartender said that she was not able to call the owner or whoever it was that scheduled the cleaning because she didn’t have his cell number. Based on the order, the crew cleaned 2 bathrooms filled with mouse feces which took an hour. The crew then cleaned rooms 7 & 8. They cleaned the registers, the cupboards, inside the fridge, inside closets, the doors and frames, windows, window sills, spot washed walls, light fixtures, high dusting, smoke alarm and skipped vacuuming cause that is what the client requested. They cleaned the hallways, edged the carpet in the hallway, high dusted the hallway, did all baseboards and light switches. There were two common areas; one was not vacuumed as it was full of bikes. The one with the couch was high dusted, baseboards cleaned, vacuumed and dusted throughout. The kitchen was cleaned including inside the oven, microwave, floors, baseboards, cupboards, washer and dryer. The crew also did the entrance on the way out and vacuumed the stairs. Two residents from rooms and 3 and 4 came out and personally thanked them for cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms. The cleaning crew was there 2.83 hours and the client was charged $183.95. We guarantee our work so if there was a problem, the best course of action would have been to call us, not post publically with a negative review. We still do not have any contact information other the posted address for this client."

I've been a client for 7 years and I'm very happy with this service. They do a great job, I've called them a few times to say thank you after visits because the house looked exceptionally great. They also leave a note after each visit saying what they concentrated on, what kind of supplies they need for next visit, etc. A couple of times I needed to call the office, when I was not happy about particular things: one time they forgot to do a bathroom; also they broke bathroom scales. They were extremely professional and efficient when taking care of problems: came back the next day (needless to say, did not charge me for this); and replaced my bathroom scales. The office is simply great. I change my schedule once in a while and often ask them to come on different days, change days, add a cleaning, or not to come. The office always able to accommodate my requests, even at the very last moment. Overall, I'm happy.

My regular charge was to be $85 every other week ($10 more than my previous woman). I was informed that since it was the first cleaning if my house that I would be charged a pro-rated $55 per hour for anytime after the first 1.5 hours. I was under the impression, from the woman who came to provide the quote, that it shouldn't be much more time over the 1.5 hours. The girls came and cleaned during the day while I was at work. The cleaning job was fine, but paled in comparison to my previous cleaning woman. The next day I received my bill, NEARLY DOUBLE! I when called to find out why I was charged $153, they explained the math to me. (I get the math). What I didn't understand was how they claim it took two girls, 3 hours each to clean my house. My last cleaning woman did my entire place(deep clean) in three hours. Her regular cleanings were two hours at the most. They charged my card without calling with my new, larger, total first. I will not use or recommend them!
Response from Housekeeping Associates
"Dear Member, We are very sorry you were disappointed with the amount of time necessary to give your home a thorough cleaning. It was clearly stated in your service agreement that any time beyond the 1.5 initial time would be charged at $55/hour. This is a reduced rate because you stated that your home was regularly cleaned. Our cleaning staff is trained to be extremely thorough on first time cleanings; touching all surfaces and working very hard to clean any built up material. Your previous cleaner may have only taken 2 or 3 hours to do this work, but we found the house had many layers of build-up that required time to thoroughly clean. The cleaning took 2.9 hrs which is very typical of a first time clean for a 1000 square foot home with multiple pets. In addition to the discounted cleaning rate (regularly $65/hr) we honored your $15 off coupon. You gave approval to charge your credit card and did not give a maximum time limit. Again, we are very sorry you were disappointed."

I have only been a customer of this company for about 1/12 months but I have found them to be reliable, honest and good overall. The office person Kristen is particularly helpful and very responsive. I have left specific instructions for cleaning my wood floor which have been followed. They do a nice job, are friendly and the house looks great when I return from work.
Response from Housekeeping Associates
"Thank you for your positive review. We appreciate your comments and will continue to work hard to make you happy. If you ever have any problems with the cleaning, please let us know right away. We want to make sure we are cleaning the way you like."

It was fine. I actually had a problem with the scheduling end of the deal and it's more of a business honor and I set my appointment for 9 am because I had to be somewhere at 11 and the crew didn't show up until 9:30 and I called the office because I had a number for Housekeeping Associates, and the owner told me that the crew leaves at 9 but that wasn't explained, so I ended up being late to where I needed to go to and I was not happy about that. I didn't spend any more than the amount for the big deal. The service was fine in the end.
Response from Housekeeping Associates
"We are sorry you were displeased with the arrival time of the crew for your cleaning. We make every effort to explain to each client we interact with that our business hours are from 9am to 5pm and that our crews do not leave our office until 9am, once they have picked up their assignments for the day. You had requested a specific crew, which we honored, for one hour of cleaning and you noted that you were willing to work alongside them to accomplish your spring cleaning. The crew left your home at approximately 10:25 that morning; had we been aware that you had a prior commitment we would have been happy to schedule a different date that was more conducive to your timeframe. We strive to meet every client's expectations and communicate all pertinent information clearly. We would have been happy to address this issue in a timely manner had we been made aware at the time of the cleaning."

Ever since the ownership of this franchise changed, the quality of service has gradually degraded.
For the date mentioned above, Housekeeping Associates sent only one person where they usually send two. Two are barely adequate to complete the necessary cleaning. Under the previous management, quite often three people were sent to perform the cleaning and did a good job. Two people are really rushed to get everything done.
Needless to say, I was quite disappointed by the results.
The people sent to do the cleaning do the best job they can. They seem to be increasingly limited by the constraints of their management and the insistence that they minimize the time spent on the job. I am seriously considering changing services if the people assigned are not provided with a sufficient time allocation so the quality of work can improve. If that does not happen, and the quality of work continues to deteriorate, I will move to a different Housecleaning service.
We pay Housekeeping Associates way too much money to receive an inferior result.

"[member name removed], You have been a long time client. We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction through this medium. Our Angie’s list reputation is very important to us as is makings sure our clients are happy. We guarantee our work 100%, so if you are ever displeased you should call the office immediately. We will do all we can to address the cleaning of your home and bring it back up to the level of cleaning you expect. I am, however, confused about your statement regarding the change in franchise ownership. Debra Shankland has owned Housekeeping Associates since 1990 and she is the original owner. We are not a franchise. Unlike other cleaning services, our crews are not given a time frame to work and are paid by the hour, not by the job. We will address the inconsistency of staff with the office. On July 8, our records show two cleaners were there. It is our policy that two cleaners or more are present so they can check each other’s work. At this point, we will address your complaints with our Brighton office and do our best to make sure you are pleased with your cleaning. If not, please call the office immediately. We would also appreciate if we restore our reputation with you, that you adjust your Angie’s List review and call us right away if things change. We value you as a customer and want you to be happy."

We've used them several times and they have always done a good job. They are very thorough. They are a little more expensive but they do seem to hit everything and things don't look weird when they are done. They do a good in-depth cleaning. Their prices are higher but they are fair.

Although they did a very nice job cleaning, when they found that there was not three hours worth of cleaning to do they tried to make work. The cleaning crew tried to fudge the amount of time they had worked so that there was not as much time for the following cleaning. Clean for a bit and then stand around and talk. The cleaning they did was excellent but I would not want that crew to clean my house again. Would use the company again and plan no doing so.
Response from Housekeeping Associates
"Thank you for using Housekeeping Associates. We are pleased that the cleaning was done well, but we are concerned about your comments on time. We train our staff to work quickly and thoroughly. Unfortunately, I don't know the address or your daughter's name to look up and find out which crew did the cleaning. If, or more hopefully, when you call us again, please remind us of your concern regarding time efficiency and we will address that with the crew that comes out. This is not a standard practice in our company and it concerns us greatly."

Deep Cleaning -
HA provided 5 associates to come into our home to provide a professional deep cleaning service - as this has never been done professionally in our 11 years of living in this home. The timing was great, quoting process was understood, simple and reasonable - and communication was great. The results were nothing less the spectacular. We even noticed small things that we left alone the week prior were taken care of when they were here to clean - Extremely well done - couldn't be happier. After that, we contracted them to come to our home twice a month to provide cleaning services.
Regular Home Cleaning -
Again, tremendous job done by the team that comes to our home. They are completely professional, thorough and effecient. I would recommend them highly to anyone. They still do the small stuff that matters so much that we begin to take it for granted. If you have any concerns regarding them coming to your home to clean - don't. We couldn't be happier with the services that have been provided over the last few months.

I had service from the one which is located in Brighton area.
The first time deep cleaning was good, the second time cleaning was alright...
We had a quote in the beginning of this year and decided to go with them but the lady who was named Shuri told me after the first time deep cleaning that the house is too big and the initial $140 quote(which the other lady did who was no longer there) would not be valid anymore, so she needed to come and quote it again. She came one hour late with the crews. It was still fine, the crews did the priority list first for $140 worth of cleaning which was the very first quote we received in the beginning of the year. She told me the new quote was $225, but if I go with the priority list I'd need to tell them where I want cleaned every time they come. I said "Okay I'll let you know after I discuss with my family", and after a couple of weeks I called back to schedule for bi-weekly cleaning with the priority list worth $140 again. Then she told me she haven't got the phone call from me for some time so she took me off the system(?)...but she could put me in again if I decide to go with $225.
Basically I noticed that she changes what she says every single time and I could not trust her anymore. Addition to this the company lost the copy of the first quote I received so they took my copy of the sheet and never gave it back, and after the first time cleaning she said I did not pay for the service, but I did with a check and I had to tell them every details of the payment proof to prove them about it.
Totally disappointed.

"Member, We are so sorry for the confusion and disappointment with your cleaning. We would love to have a chance to make this right. The person who quoted you is no longer with the company and created quite a bit of havoc with her final week of quotes. Unfortunately, you were part of that small group. Your business is very important to us. We will try to reach you, but feel free to call the office and talk with Debi, the owner. It distresses us greatly when we have a bad review. This is NOT how we do business and we want the opportunity to make this right with you."

Signed up for regular cleaning after they did a deep clean service a few weeks ago. The manager came out to our house to do a quick walkthrough to get us a quote ($90/clean if we get it done every third week). Very professional with the quote, gave us detailed information on the services they would (and would not) be providing. The two women who came out today to clean did a great job and I'm very satisfied with the service. Took them about an hour and a half to clean our home. All the surfaces were cleaned and/or dusted, floors look great, beds were made... Definitely made the right decision in hiring this company to clean my home!

I wish I could say I was happier with the service. However, performance continued to slack as time went on. Several areas were inadequately cleaned, or not attended to at all.
