COMPETITION LOCK & KEY

I thought I needed our front door lockset replaced. Instead Randy tuned it up and created two keys for us. He knew the history of the lock, how well made it was and within an hour had it working great! He was friendly and personable while working. Highly recommend, and would hire again!

He was early and was fast, very friendly and knew a lot about his field. Very knowledgeable. Priced  cheaper than another blacksmith in the area.  James great quality. He is a mobile blacksmith so he had everything he needed in his van.

Randy was GREAT! We called him to inquire about his services and he was able to come out the next day (New Year's Eve). He was early to the appointment and got to work right away! He was quick (the whole process took about 30 minutes) and made friendly conversation while he worked. Very nice guy, great service, prompt response and very professional. I always like to call/use local businesses whenever possible, so I was very happy to find this one. I would definitely recommend!!!

Thank you Angie's List reviewers! They didn't steer me wrong. Randy is exactly as described, an honest professional. Gave him a call in the morning to repair a pantry door that had gotten stuck closed and couldn't be opened, and he came over the same afternoon and was able to open the door, replace and repair the latch, all in half an hour. His prices are reasonable and fair, and he saved me a ton of time tinkering with it myself. I wasn't sure if a locksmith was the right person to call for a doorknob that doesn't even lock, but he had it covered.

Called and asked me some specific questions I was able to answer some of them. Decided it couldn't wait and came right over. Tightened up my loose screws, drilled out and fixed the strike plate on my lintel, tightened screws on hinges that I didn't know were loose.
Fixed my problem and general maintenance I didn't know to to do. Now I know what to keep any eye on. Matter of fact, friendly and helpful. He is now my go to locksmith.

We asked competition lock and key to come by and rekey our new house on the day we closed. We only gave him a day's notice but Randy was excellent and gave a great price quote and came by exactly on time. He Rekeyed our locks and since the front and back doors had different company locks he replaced the back door lock with an old one that he had that could be keyed the Same as the front door. And he didn't charge extra for that. Said it was a housewarming gift. Very cool. He also identified a potentially problem lock for our basement that we didn't have the key for and he disabled that lock for no extra charge.

They came doing it for a while. They were in near harbor. They came out and gave us an estimate right away. They were very professional and did a great job.

I discussed some details with Randy on the phone before installation. The main issue was the type of existing locks and keying the types together. I bought an additional door knob for a door with dead bolt.

Randy exchanged one of my cylinders with something he had in his inventory (it was a good quality cylinder, but did not fit my other existing locks.) He also drilled out the door to fit my new lock. In the end, he made sure all my locks were working top notch and some took a bit of extra work to clean them up. I was very impressed with his work.

After a quick look on Angie's list I've found this company really close to ny location. They have answered fast to may call and in 10 minutes they were at the scene and after a few more minutes the car was unlocked. Professional, fast, accurate … I'll keep this number in my agenda for future needs.

Wonderful! Did not try to sell us anything extra, or what we did not need. He also repaired one dead bolt that was crooked and hard to open, and on a lesser door he used a refurbished lock he had with him, so they could all be keyed the same. Tried to save us money, but at the same time made sure we had quality locks and keys. Double-checked all the key copies, and made sure we knew how to operate our 2-step locks. (Little did I know we had a step-up on locks!) They actually had two modes. He spent some time advising us when to use which mode, etc. Quiet, quick, and thorough! And inexpensive! What more could anyone ask? I would recommend highly to anyone!

Exceeded expectations. Randy Reets is professional, and extraordinarily knowledgeable. The job was completed quickly, with a "customer satisfaction" demeanor.

He was very professional, honest, and took care to not damage any of the doors. The front door lock was difficult to remove because it wasn't installed properly at some time in the past, but he patiently worked with it to get it removed. He even threw in a nice lock plate for free since my lock was missing one. I felt he was very knowledgeable about locks and took pride in having them installed properly.

They were very prompted and very good.

My niece locked and lost the keys to my file cabinet. Randy came out and unlocked the cabinet. He unfortunately wasn't able to make another key for the lock but he did remove it and told me where I should go to get another one. Because he was unable to make the new keys himself he charged me half of the service fee. Randy showed up an hour after I called which was faster then he said he could make it. I would call him in a heartbeat if I ever needed a locksmith again.

I bought a foreclosed home that was on a master key system. The listing agent met Randy and me at the house so that we could get the locks rekeyed. After inspecting the locks Randy determined that he could rekey the house without the master key. He disassembled the locks and deadbolts and took them to his truck to work on them. Quite some time passed and I later learned that the door locks were a foreign design that was difficult to disassemble and rekey. Randy, however, persevered. He installed all the deadbolts and door locks so that they use just one key for all five locks. He also re-bored the front door, which had not been done by the listing agent when they changed the locks. Because they hadn't done that, the door knob was wobbly and the lock was somewhat difficult to open. After Randy was done with the front door, it worked perfectly. The last thing he did was fix my breezeway-to-garage door, which would not remain closed (much less locked). He adjusted the seating of the strikeplate and the knob so that it too now works perfectly. All in all we spent about two hours and I am extremely pleased with his work. If I ever need another locksmith, I'd call Randy in a heartbeat.

He arrived within 15 minutes of my initial phone call. He was prompt, polite and informative. His prices are very reasonable. He discounted his service call price since he was already headed to my area on other business. He fixed the problem quickly and gave us some information on different kinds of locks out there should we want to replace the 30 year old locks we currently have. We would definitely use him again and would highly recommend him.
