I absolutely love the Y. It's clean, bright, and friendly -- one of the best gyms I've ever attended. All the employees are very friendly, as are most members. I really do feel like it's a neighborhood facility, and I've met some great people there. I appreciate the community outreach that the Y conducts. I've also been very, very happy with the classes I've attended, particularly spinning. I've taken classes with four or five instructors, and there isn't one I don't like.
A couple downsides are that things are really busy and hectic in the 5:30-7pm timeframe. I've learned that I'm a lot happier if I just wait to exercise later in the evening and avoid the after-work rush. Parking can also be difficult -- again, though, working out in the off-hours helps with that.
The prices are very reasonable. When I was first a member, I received the under-27 rate, which was really fantastic ($20-ish per month, if I remember correctly). I now have the family membership with my boyfriend, which is a pretty good deal; it would be an even better one if we had children, who would then use the childcare services at no additional cost.

It is very nice. It is a new complex. It is a new facility and they have a lot of services and equipment. It has a very nice swimming pool that is really warm in the wintertime. The price is very reasonable compared to other fitness centers in town.

I love the Y. This is one of the better Y's I've been to as well. I wish I lived closer I'd be going here all the time. Great equipment. Great staff. Great environment.

When I was in college I had a young adult membership. I worked out several times a week and was always greeted warmly and enjoyed the facility. It's clean, organized, and has plenty of work out equipment. In addition to the equipment, they offer many free classes to members and I have done several. They are a wonderful change to my normal work out routine. They also offer classes that you pay for, but members pay much less than non members. I have done a weight class, several yoga classes, and a zumba class. They have all been awesome and way worth the money.
Since college, I have gotten married and have had two great kids. We now have a family membership and use the YMCA even more. My kids (ages 5 and 2) LOVE the Child Watch room where they get to do fun activities while my husband and I work out (up to 2 hours every day is what is allowed free of charge with the family membership). We also use their clean, large pool to swim as a family. My kids have done classes through the Y and they have always been positive. We are currently doing TBall, such fun!
Needless to say we are VERY happy with the Ann Arbor YMCA. I recommend it to my young college friends and family, to families with young children, and to any individual looking for a positive place to work out and build a healthy community.

They have good flexible facilities. My wife participates in a Livestrong program for cancer survivors that is free for cancer survivors.

It is clean. The people who work there are friendly. They have a lot of programs. The equipment is good. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. They send out newsletters but not that often.
