Acclaimed Painting

We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Bob and his son Clint. We responded to a flyer left in our mailbox and our front deck and railing was completely cleaned, scrapped, prepped and painted with 10 days. Looked great. We have since had two more decks painted and more work in progress.

Acclaimed Painting did an excellent job in painting the exterior of my house.   I have rough cedar siding.  They did exactly what we had agreed to and did it with attention to detail in a highly professional manner.   I was extremely satisfied with their work.   They are a small local Ann Arbor company, mainly three guys.  Very friendly and easy to work with.  I highly recommend them.

UPDATE: I'm updating an earlier review. We had Bob Whitehurst of Acclaimed Painting paint two small porches/decks this past September. There is a pergola over one of the porches and when Bob first power-washed the surfaces to be painted, my husband noticed that the tops of the boards of the pergola had been left unprepped. I talked with Bob to make sure that they would be cleaned prior to painting, and he said he would power sand them. When he completed the job and was walking me through an inspection, I specifically asked about the tops of the boards, and he assured me they were painted along with everything else. A month and a half later, my husband was on the roof removing leaves and was able to look down on the pergola, and the boards had not only not been painted but not prepped as Bob assured they would. I called Bob about it, and he admitted then that they had never been cleaned or painted! He told me he would be out to paint them on the first good weather day. He's yet to show up (and it's mid November in MI, so there aren't many good days left), and I've heard nothing from him. For this reason, I have to revise my previous review. If he shows up and does the work, I'll once again update, but for now, I have to give a negative report.

It went very well,  He is an interesting and honest fellow.  His workers are very competent and did a great job.   watching them, I could have been watching a portrait painter, they were that diligent.   Starting times were not always met, but the work got done on time

Excellent! Bob gave me an estimate that was right in line with others or a bit higher but I liked the idea that he would come back around over the next few years and check on the job. Plus, I could tell that he knew what he was talking about, unlike some of the less expensive contractors. The two men that painted, Kennie and Dontaze, were excellent and professional in every respect. Really like the job that they did, they were neat and efficient too!

We've used Acclaimed several times over the last six years and been very happy with the experience.  The owner has always taken the time to answer questions, explain product choices,  and, respecting our budget, been helpful in pointing out where work was unnecessary.

We hired Bob Whitehurst in 2003 to paint the exterior of our house.  Were very satisfied with the quality of the work.  And appreciated that he recommended good materials which lasted very well.  We rehired him to repaint the house in the summer of 2013 and again are quite satisfied with the work.  The painters worked through very hot summer days to finish the job in just two or three days.  Definitely recommend them. 

It went well.  The staff was professional and did a great job.  The accent wall was very dark and took several coats.

I could not have had a better experience.  Bob, the owner was wonderful to work with.  The paint job itself was very very well done and I could not be happier about the quality of the job.  The job was done on time and on budget.  They even went above and beyond by painting my house and garage doors, which I did not think were included in the original quote, but Bob insisted there was no extra charge for the doors.
Bob works directly with his crew, so it's not like some painting companies where they send a salesman for the quote and a totally different crew for painting.  I've had a bad experience in the past where a salesman tells me one thing and the painting crew tells me something completely different

Bob, the owner, worked with us directly from the estimate to the final touches. He is one of the nicest human beings you could ever come across. Tremendous integrity, artistry, understanding and knowledge of the painting process, colors, quality and application. His crew were just the same, experienced, professional, neat, and also really good guys. There was no nonsense like some of the other companies who have  so many different players in the process that you or they do not even know who last talked with the customer. His rates were by far the most competitive. Finally, his honesty is a rare quality to find these days, including calculating paint quantity, and additional costs when we added a few more things such as a different trim color, porch details among others. He advocated for 2 coats in the areas of our home that needed it, and to save expenses where it was not needed. Finally, he was the only business, that  correctly selected the paint that was most effective with wear and durability, which also happened to be the least costly. His goal was clearly to make us happy and satisfied with the work. Further, his pride in his profession, and exceptional work ethic is a rare quality these days. 
The house looks absolutely amazing. I have sent an email to our entire subdivision regarding the work.

We are extremely satisfied customers.  Bob, the owner, and the 2 individuals working with him - Kenny and  Adam could not have been more pleasant and professional.  They were extremely punctual and were very careful to protect our furniture, wood floor and wallpapered area in the kitchen.  The work was definitely very high quality and Bob was careful not to purchases excessive paint.  He advised us the appropriate paint and the result shows his knowledge of the products chosen.  We felt the price was very competitive and Bob told us the kind of patching, etc. they would be doing and followed through.  We would definitely use them again when we have other areas to paint.  They worked carefully and neatly and cleaned up appropriately at the end of each day.  We would definitely recommend their work.

We hired Acclaimed Painting (Robert Whitehurst) to paint the exterior of our house.  He recommended good paint, did the work quickly and professionally.  Good cleanup.  There was an additional cost to the job of hiring a carpenter to repair some wood on our chimney and a few pieces of siding.  The carpenter recommended also did good work at reasonalble cost, about another $500.  They clearly did good work since this was done in 2003 and it's now 2012.  We plan to hire them again next summer for a repeat of the job.  

No negative issues to report.  No problems and extremely happy with the job.  Done on time, showed up as promised, etc.
