"I would like to respond to this complaint as follows: 1. I have never done a job or signed a contract with this member. I had a contract a woman at this address. He married her at a later date & we have never even met. 2. The estimate that was used for this job was not $30,000. The estimate used was $16,460.00, 90% of the existing basement had extremely poor done drywall by another contractor. The larger estimate was to strip this drywall & to do drywall throughout her basement correctly. She did not want to pay that kind of money, had us do light touch up’s & paint only. All drywall complaints were on these existing walls, not any of our new walls. 3. Customer never tried to get some of their money back; they paid only $8,000 of a total job costs of $17,289.09. We therefore took them to court for final payment. Mediation totally agreed we were owed this money. 4. Her child continued to play in the basement during construction & drywall dust (not paint) got on some of the customer’s contents. Customer was also (as a part of the contract) supposed to have contents moved out of the rooms we were working in. Every attempt was made to cover contents, but the cover was continually removed by the owners. 5. Drywall does dent easily, this is the nature of the product, and nothing we have any control over. As per mediation this is a customer who simply did not want to pay her bill, nothing more & nothing less. I would suggest that he get his facts straight or remove this complaint from Angie’s List. Thank you, LaMar Eby, President"
The final project has been admired by two of our neighbors and we are also very pleased. We spent a little more then the estimate because at some key points we asked them to do additional work not in the original estimate. For example the Patio in front of the new room was planned to be 12 feet by 24 feet. When they framed out the concrete pour, my wife and I thought it was too small. We asked if we could expand it. It was only $212 extra to go to 14 by 24 because the sand footers were good out that far. We were delighted. Also they needed to add a ceiling access to our garage attic to comply with new building codes. I asked if they would install stairs and then floor the attic for new storage space. Again they were pleased to do the additional work. I bought the drop down stairs and the plywood and they did the additional work without any additional charge except for the laborers hours to complete the work.
