My husband contacted Sears and arranged for them to come to our home and clean several rooms of carpet: 3 bedrooms, a hallway, a stairway, our family room, dining room and living room. They provided him with a quote that sounded reasonable. Before he hung up my husband confirmed that the cleaning crew would move the furniture. They suggested that we vacuum first in order to assure the best clean possible. The morning of the incident, June 11, 2016, we worked very hard to move all of the furniture (with bad backs) in order to vacuum under everything as well. The technician (only one) arrived on time and proceeded to check out all of the rooms. He had my husband initial a few boxes on a form on a clipboard and then proceeded to tell him that he was not going to move the furniture to clean - that he was not allowed to move the furniture. My husband told him that we were assured that he would move the furniture by the person who set up the appointment and that we assumed (as with other companies) they would send more than one person to tackle this job. The technician then called a woman and told her about the situation. My husband got on the phone to speak with her and she was very defensive saying that Sears would never tell us they would move the furniture and that she was going to tell the technician to leave AND that she was going to charge us $85.00. I talked with the technician telling him that my house was torn up and that it needed to be put back together because I was having surgery in 4 days. He talked to the woman again and said to me that she was sending another technician. He proceeded to go to his truck in our driveway. We assumed that he was waiting for the additional help to arrive. Instead he left!! Another technician never showed up and they (the woman) did not answer our 4 attempts to contact her. This is the most unprofessional, disrespectful company I have had the displeasure to connect with in a very long time. My advice - stay VERY FAR away from Sears Carpet Cleaning. We are communicating with our American Express to be sure we are not charged, and to dispute it if they do actually try to get the money they threatened to take. We called another company, Stanley Steamer, and within 2 hours they showed up (2 guys) and did an amazing job. This was after 5:00 on a Saturday night with no warning. They were extremely thorough and professional.
Overall grade: F
Did not get the carpet clean, damaged a dresser and had poor and rude customer service
