Scholten Landscape Maintenance

It went well for two years. This year they never came on time. They came twice and both times it was after I had already shoveled. I called to cancel service and they asked to be given another chance. The next time it snowed they didn't show up at all. I cancelled service with the understanding that they would reimburse us for all but the two plows they "did". When we finally received our check it was prorated for 5 plows. I called again and was basically called a liar. We have surveillance and asked them for the dates and times of the supposed extra plows. They were unable to provide those dates and times, because they didn't happen. It's a shame. We need some landscaping done and I would have hired them, even with the bad experience with snow removal this year. Now I think of them as both unreliable and dishonest.

They did a very nice job, dependable, and the price was fair.  I'd recommend them to anyone.  It would be nice if they offered a more one-stop service to cover pest control, reseeding, etc.  Maybe they do now.

They do a great job. No complaints. Their crews are very careful not to damage furniture and do little extras like edging along the driveway.

Crew was prompt and remained on the job until complete.  The placement of boulders had to be done with an existing elevated area around a utilities pole, entwined trees, ground cover.  the removal of old rotted railroad ties was done without a trace and the placement of the serpentine was perfect.  The bark chips were done fully and neatly and tied the existing area together.

We used Scholten for this winter, and the pricing model seems fair to us. I believe it is the first 25 plows are covered under the base price, and an additional $10 per pull after that. Last year was a rough year, so as you can imagine he would have plowed quite frequently for customers and incurred extra fuel and vehicle wear and tear costs. The pricing model seems reasonable to me. He could be charging more up front and pocketing the extra when winters are mild. He has always made sure our driveway was clear in time for us to go to work (and I get up fairly early). We've not noticed the noise, but then plowing snow is going to make noise.  We would definately use him again.

They did a pretty good job however they could have plowed a little wider on the driveway. They charge you for a certain amount of plows up front. After you reach that certain amount, we would get charged extra per plow. We ended up paying 50% more than I anticipated. Sometimes they would come at 2am and it would wake the household.

Very reasonable price, the stuff they used worked great. And most importantly, they didn't try to sell me on a "program".

It went fine. These guys are very easy to work with, and were flexible to meet our needs on short notice. I contacted them last year to get my lawn mowed when our mower broke down. They took care of it on short notice and did such a nice job that I decided to have them take care of our lawn all the time.

So far, communication is great....their work is awesome...I am very happy!

They take care of our lawn care and road plowing. They came to our door and wanted us to try them so we did.

They were very well. They response very quickly on the phone and they made the appointment on time. They did the work as promise and I will be using them next year.

The owner's name is John Scholton. I've been working with them for 5 years at some properties I have. I know the owner personally. He is an honest, upright and outstanding person. If they say they will be there 4 times a year, they will be here. They do good work. They will do what they say and I don't have to follow up with them to see if they are going to do the work. Their prices are quite reasonable. I've had had a couple of other estimates and they were lower.
