Sam was very professional throughout the entire renovation. His main goal was always to please his clients. Communication between Sam and us was always thorough and immediate. the kitchen island that he designed was exceptionally well made and has received several compliments. His crew was very professional as well as working extremely hard and efficiently. They too always aimed to please .  The price ended up higher than expected but we had added several things to our wish list especially in the electrical area. The overall project took a few weeks longer than we hoped but that is always to be expected. Our experience with Sam Bridge was excellent!

We were very satisfied overall. They were prompt, kept us in the loop on how the door orders were coming along, and came and did the work with quality and speed. They also were very good about cleaning up after the job was done.

Sam (and Paul) did an excellent job in a reasonable amount of time. They put up dust barriers, cleaned up each day, worked efficiently and flexibly around our schedules, and handled some access issues with good communication with us. The end result is great! Sam designed the job with decent creativity that several other contractors we asked to look at the job did not bring to the table. Handling the leveling issues was particularly challenging, and Sam had and executed a good idea to meet our goals. As a result of his creativity, Sam did more than what others offered to do, for a reduced cost.

We had some water damage in our basement due to water coming in from one of the windows, and we went looking for someone who could replace the damaged wood trim and some of the doors. After getting a number of estimates, Sam Bridge seemed to be the most professional of them all, and that was a large part of the reason we chose them. We wanted to get the job done right and in retrospect, we feel we made a wise decision. From the start, he came in and listened to what we wanted to get done, suggested some great options to use for our space, and kept in constant communication during the creation of the proposal and after it was accepted. He made sure we were getting the exact products we wanted before he ordered them. Once the installation started, he was easy to reach when questions came up, and he dealt with every item we requested. He had another carpenter he works with do most of the work (Paul) but we did not have any communication issues between Sam, myself, and Paul. After the work was complete, they cleaned up the area very well, and even came back to make some adjustments to a few doors that were not working as they should due to the way the door company cut the holes. It was an easy process and we are very happy with the look of the new trim and doors.

Because I am a do-it-yourself kind of person, I did most of the tear downs(removed toilets, sinks, wallpaper, bad molding, carpets, linoleum). I had an electrician and a plumber on board already and I chose the appliances, toilets and sinks myself. I also did a lot of the prep and painting. Sam did pretty much everything else. His employees did fabulous carpentry and construction work and they were all very kind and professional and always on time. Samuel Bridge Carpentry did the following for me: constructed and installed new kitchen cabinets to match the original cabinets which I decided to keep, altered and extended the countertops(for more space), took down a wall and implemented an architect's design for a fireplace(rough framing and finish work after a gas fireplace was installed), created wide door frames on either side, did quite a bit of molding work, successfully matching the original moldings. He also did the following: garage roof repairs, garage wall and window repairs(extensive), installed new windows in the basement, concrete reinforcement of a rather extensive retaining wall, and he retiled a bathroom floor(beautifully) He also installed bathroom cabinets and doors in the bedroom. Sam ALWAYS answers his phone, which is so satisfying. He was always on-time, willing to offer advice, professional, gracious and patient. He reviewed design books with me and suggested the most appropriate products based upon my need and my budget. I have worked with a number of contractors over the years and I think he is the best.

It went very well. The cost is noted as higher than original due to additional work that was needed once the walls were opened or work that we added at our option. Price: We only got one quote for this year's project. Last year, only two of four or five contractors gave us a proposal, and Sam's was significantly lower than the other (even with extra work added in). Quality & Responsiveness: Excellent. If we found a problem, Sam fixed it. If we weren't sure what to do, he helped us figure it out. BIG EXAMPLE: Demolition in the basement full bath turned up mold, hidden electrical junction boxes, weird plumbing and water problems. There was clay under the floor and water coming in the foundations (during summer's big rains). Resolution included installing sump pumps with external drainage, improving the drainage under the floor, replacing the electrical and plumbing as needed. Sam built in enough time for problems like these, and he and his team resolved them quickly. SMALL EXAMPLES: We had to figure out how to fit a large counter overhanging on the dining room side of the peninsula, while not taking up too much room in the small space. Sam worked with us on size and shape of the overhang and the corner, and it turned out well. He helped us work with all of the subcontractors to ensure satisfaction in every area. If we didn't like the way something turned out, or if someone overlooked something, Sam made sure it was taken care of quickly and without complaint. And of course, if anything was damaged, they repaired it. He's got a great team of subcontractors. I was particularly impressed with the electricians, but they all added good ideas and good work to the project. Punctuality: Over the course of the project, Sam was here all but a couple of days. He was here when he said he would be (and cleaned up before leaving). Professionalism: Excellent. The work is top-notch, and he's got a great attitude about his work. As my wife said, "he goes the extra mile." He said he likes the problem solving aspect of his work and it shows. We changed our minds on a variety of things, but Sam took it all in stride.
