Royal Oil & Propane Co

We used to be pretty happy with Royal Oil.  Prices were competitive, auto delivery was timely and we never ran out of anything.  Over the past year service has gone to the very bottom of the hill.  This winter we have run out of oil twice and propane four times.  We have had to call for delivery repeatedly which we should never have to do.  When we expressed our frustration to the owner, he asked us to hang in there with him and sincerely apologized.  Then we ran out again and were told they could not fill the propane tank but would come back the next day.  Never happened.  We are looking for a new provider.  Strongly suggest you stay away from Royal Oil.

Servicemen were excellent doing yearly tune ups. Professional and polite at all times and kept our old furnace operating within accepted efficiencies.



Company was unable to provide oil delivery in a timely fashion. We ran out of oil FOUR TIMES. each time we asked the company to FILL the tank (we pay in cash, IN FULL every delivery).Company refused to deliver a full tank. Dropped off 50 gallons. We stated this would not last a week. They told us "that was all they had; they would be back next week. They NEVER came. We ran out of oil. This happened THRRE more times. Each time the serviceman had to come prime the pump because pump ran dry. Even the Servicemen couldn't believe we didn't fire the company after the second time. By the fourth time the company employees advised us to seek an alternative supplier.

We had never had a problem with the service Royal Oil and Propane provided until this year. Within the span of 3 months we ran out of oil 4 times! Each time we ran out of oil the house cooled to ~54 degrees by the time the problem was discovered (either oil ran out while we were away at work or overnight) Each time we ran out of oil, not only did we have to call for an urgent delivery of fuel, we also had to be home so that a service man could go into the basement and re-prime the pump. The first time this happened we figured it was a fluke. The second time it happened we became concerned, especially when the gentleman who arrived to deliver the fuel and would only deliver 50 gallons. We asked him why only 50 gallons and were told they could only deliver 50 gallons on the "urgent" basis but would come back with more fuel. The THIRD time we ran out of fuel my husband wanted to cancel service right then and there. I talked with a customer service rep who explained that they were short on drivers due to an illness. I told them we couldn't keep running out of fuel, despite the company's problems. I said if this happened again we would cancel and suggested they fill the tank. Not only would they only deliver 100 gallons they never returned, as they had promise over the ensuing 3 weeks. Last week we ran out a FOURTH time and have now canceled service with them.
Generally, when a company is short on man-power they economize on the number of deliveries that have to be made by maximizing the quantity delivered each time. This saves on labor. Several company employees disclosed that many other customers had had similar experiences, running out of oil. This tends to induicate to us that the issue is not a delivery problem, but rather a financial problem in the company, rendering it unable to purchase the quantities of oil necessary to meet its customers needs.
I would NOT do business with this company! They are unable to provide a reliable and sufficient amount of fuel on a regular basis.

They arrived on time and with a full crew to do everything that was needed. They were very professional and did the work and cleaned up right away. They made sure when teh tank was installed that it would not be on my flower beds and told me that if there was any settling of the tank or other issues to call them and they would come up and add more gravel under it if needed to keep it level. They answered all my questions and the heater has been great. The cost of the propane if half what I was paying for oil and it keeps the house very warm.

My experiences with them have been very good.Iwould recommend them to others.

The service was good; I think there was just an honest mistake. When we called and said we had no heat in the house they came over within a matter of hours and took care of the problem very expeditiously and apologetically. I will use them again in the future.
