J.L.P. Services

I've used JLP services on many occasions and always had terrific results, except for the last time.  Over 2-3 years, I used JLP Services for lawn mowing, mulching, spring/fall clean up, tree removal and pruning, loam delivery, fence removal, and even had them create a crushed rock foundation for a new shed.  In every case (except for the last one) the results were terrific.  I was very satisfied and happy that I had found such a great service in the Portland area.
On my last engagement with JLP services in November of 2013, I asked them to come and do some fall cleanup work.  They arrived as usual with a small crew of workers and completed the work quickly.  The lawn looked great.  However, later that day, my neighbor call to tell me that there was a basketball sized hole in the faux foundation beneath my sun-room (concrete board).  Since I knew that I had not done this, and that it had not been there before JLP Services did their work, I called them to take a look at the damage.  The owner came and looked at the damage, and claimed that there was no way that his equipment could have caused such damage, since the lawn mowers that he used were set too low on the ground to make such a hole.  I could not prove that his crew made the hole, but was hoping that he would at least offer to cut me a deal to split the cost of the repair (perhaps provide labor if I provided materials).  But this was not to be.  He said he would talk to his guys to see if they knew anything about it and would call me back, but I never heard from him again.
Accidental damage to property is always possible when working around a home.  But I felt that it was unprofessional for JLP Services to completely deny accountability for the damage that was done to my home, when neither of us knew for certain what had actually happened.  I was also upset that he never called me back to follow up on this issue.
 
I paid for the service when the bill came, but vowed to not use JLP Services again.  I am very sorry that our business relationship had to end like this, because I really did think that they do great work at a fair price.
