This is by far the largest project I have done on the house since purchasing it almost 4 years ago. The scope was large and it took about 2.5 weeks to complete all the work but I cannot say enough about Margo and her team. Honestly there were so many things done that no one would read my review if I wrote everything because it would be so long. In brief, almost 100% of my dealings were with Margo, the team leader. She and I communicated almost daily during the project, as I was usually gone before they arrived and home after they had left. I never had any issues getting a hold of her, discussing options or ways we should proceed with certain aspects of the project. The crew was always there on time and very respectful of our home and time. My wife who saw/spoke to the workers more often commented to me how hard they worked every day and never hesitated to check with her on things or ask questions if needed. Margo was great in helping me get set up with EM and getting all of the rebates pushed through which totaled more than $2000 when all said and done. There were only a few small snags along the way but nothing that was not dealt with quickly and efficiently thanks to Margo's attentiveness to detail. The crew was great about providing education and instruction when it came to the heat pumps, heat pump water heater and controls that had been set on the boiler. The insulation guys with Horizon did a great job creating a door and cover for the stairs leading into the attic to help really seal things up after doing so much work under the plywood floor up there. The experience was great and I have no reservations about recommending Horizon to anyone looking to do any type of energy upgrades to their home. I am hoping to use them again in the future to potentially install a few more heat pumps and then convert the entire home to solar as all water/heating/cooling will be electric at that time. Margo was also very honest and realistic with recommending certain upgrades and what I could expect to see for return on my investment and I never felt as though she was just trying to make money and move on to the next project. Thanks to Margo and everyone at Horizon for all the hard work, can't wait to see that oil bill plummet this winter and I know I certainly enjoy having that old tank less coiled boiler off during the summer! Everything went great. I worked with Margo who was able to come out very quickly to perform the audit. She was great at explaining things as she went along and what the results of the blower door testing and infra-red camera results would mean in terms of heat loss. She spent probably >1hr with me discussing potential options for how to improve the homes energy efficiency and was not biased for one particular methodology whether that be a new oil/propane boiler, pellet boiler, heat pumps or solar. The report that she sent with all of the potential options and cost savings was very helpful in me making my determination about what I was going to invest a substantial amount of money in. She was very easy to communicate with via email and would always get back to me within 24-48hrs. As a result of the great service I elected to hire them for a variety of improvements that we ended up doing on the home. I would recommend them for the energy audit service with out hesitation.

Highly professional and experienced team. Margot met with us at the outset and then oversaw the project. Nate and his team did the work on site and managed all the details. They were all communicative and took the time to educate us on the work. They were thorough and did a great job protecting floors. The project was messy - there is no avoiding this but the team did a great job cleaning up after. The team showed up on time and kept us apprised of their progress and date of completion. They even finished ahead of schedule.  The BEST part of all of it is that our home is much more comfortable and warm - we noticed the difference right away.  This was a worthy investment and we made it with a worthy company.

We worked with Margo. She was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the process. Margo helped us determine which insulation and air sealing projects we should tackle first; and helped us apply for both an Efficiency Maine credit and a Unitil credit. This meant we ended up paying about $800 for $3200 worth of work. It was an absolute pleasure working with Horizon. We will definitely be working with them again in the future.

Report was clear and easy to understand what changes would be most
beneficial. They are pleasant and easy to deal with. We have not
invested in large measures but have a plan moving forward.

My house was built over 40 years ago. It's heated with oil. I was interested in knowing how much energy (heat) the house was loosing during cold temperature season so I contacted Horizon Energy and arranged an audit. From the first phone call I found Horizon to be friendly, concerned for my needs, very professional, highly competent - I felt relaxed with them in my house, knowing they would do the job correctly and thoroughly, which they did.
My house was tested (using real science) and found to have issues with air infiltration and heat loss. Every leak was identified. I was given options for corrective actions. I was never coerced into doing anything, simply had the issues identified and provided an opportunity to hire Horizons or some other company. It made sense though to have Horizon do the work since they already knew where the issues were, and they projected themselves so well as being and quot;that goodand quot; that I hired them immediately to handle the corrective work.
The Horizon team (it is truly a team approach) showed up on time, every day, and put in a full days work, every day. They pay attention to the details. They are educated people, carefully screened by the company.They don't smoke while on the job, which was important to me. They were considerate of my house as a whole, not just the specific area of work. They protected the environment and cleaned up after themselves, every day. My house needed a lot of work and it took 6 and 1/2 days to get it all done.
I have two separate attic spaces, hundreds of feet of basement to living space interface, plus a basement bulkhead door that was essentially a wide open conduit for air infiltration and heat loss. After the work was completed I began to notice some changes, all good. My house feels warmer (haven't changed the thermostats settings), especially going from room to room. The burner runs for less time to bring a zone up to the temperature setting. Once at the zone temperature setting, it takes longer for the burner to reengage - the zones are staying warm for a longer period of time, without needing the burner to re-heat the zone. Very important to me, my unheated basement workshop area feels warmer, and I no longer have to run an electric heater when I want to work there. And sticking to science, the test-out blower door test showed a definite decrease in air (heat) loss throughout the house.
I am extremely happy with the results of the work that was done. I would highly recommend Horizon Energy to others.

They had the most number of reviews. They were excellent. This was the first time I had dealt with them and I did not have any problems with them. It was related to the state program and it was close to the dead line. So, all of a sudden they were inundated and so, everyone in the state who did this was inundated. They were delayed because of that. They let us know about the delay and it was not their fault.

They compiled a detailed report. They did a fantastic job. I particularly liked their report which gave me a lot of information in order to take further energy efficient steps in my house. The person who did the audit was very knowledgeable and was willing to answer my questions.

It has been nearly 2 months, and despite promises and apologies, I don't have a report, so I can't start on the energy improvements. We're heading into cold weather, and I'd like to be able to make the improvements before it's too cold to do the work. The receptionist apologizes, Randy apologizes, but no one gives me the final product.
