Dave is very professional, & his office staff is helpful & professional. He shows up on time, & returns his calls. Did a outstanding job for me. I would highly recommend him & I would use him again.
He was willing to take this small job; many other contractors did not even call me back & one failed to even show up when his office said he would.

After our recent blizzard and subsequent snow storm, I had some water leakage in my house. The roof was covered with deep snow with drifts 2 to 3 deep and had ice dams in a few locations. Somewhat in a panic I called David Deschaine's company because they had done the original roofing for the house in 2006 before I brought it. On a Sunday I used the convenient on-line appointment function on their website. Still I called Monday anyway. I spoke David, I described my problem, and the type of roof. He surprised me  by giving me an immediate quote of $499, sight unseen and set up the job for the next day. He could not pin down a time, because he could not judge when his snow removal crew would be finishing each house. This seemed reasonable, but  I was really surprised when the crew showed up late that Monday afternoon. They worked hard until dark. There was a lot of snow on the roof. There were great pile around the house, but they removed the snow that fell on the back deck. Before they left I asked about the removal of the ice dams. The fellow who seemed to be in charge said that they sprinkled them with ice melt. Although they worked hard, I think they were exhausted at the end of the day, and they may have been in a rush to finish and get home. The next day I looked around in daylight.  They missed a spot on the roof near the front door and didn't remove snow that had fallen on the front porch. Three days later the ice dams are still there and have not reduced in size. If ice melting was applied, it is not evident. The dripping inside has stopped. Although I am happy for that I worry that the continued ice dam presence may cause me problem further into the winter. I feel I got a quick and incomplete job, and certainly not worth the money I paid. With the next storm I will look elsewhere and be sure the dams are really removed.

"[member name removed] Like I said over the phone we had a minimum price set at $499 because of the volume of snow that was on the roofs, and when I ask how much snow was on the roof you told me "A Lot" so I gave you our minimum price of $499 because you are a past customer. As for the ice dams we can only remove so much without damaging the shingles so there may be some areas that will have to melt and/or we treated with calcium chloride to help the melting process....I'm NOT sure what you are complaining about, and we do the best we can for everyone. Thanks again for the business!"

One work-horse did entire large roof- effciently.  Another gentleman used my snowblower to remove fallen snow from walkways, etc.  Inadvertently, destroyed electric cord for lighting in back yard (no big deal).  Cigarette buts left in yard.  Otherwise, everything was fine.

We contacted  three different contractors to quote to re-roof our home.  The most expensive quote indicated a three day job.  That seemed too long.  Second quote indicated a one day job.  That seemed too fast and worrisome in terms of rushed quality.  Dave Deschaine was the final quote. I had obtained Dave's name from a neighbor who had a new roof put on in the prior year or so by Dave's crew and had been quite satisfied with Dave's quality and customer service.  For our job Dave was very professional, showed up for our bid appointment with samples so we could pick what we wanted right then and there, was able to beat the other two quotes and was able to put us on his install schedule in a timely fashion.  Dave kept in touch with us right through the re-roofing process both calling and emailing to confirm the schedule. The crew showed up as scheduled.  The crew chief called the morning the job was to begin to let me know they were on their way as he knew that I needed to head to work but that I wanted to meet them when they arrived.  The first day they re-roofed the back side of the house.  The second day the front side.  Their work was excellent.  I had some questions after the first day and Dave answered them all.  The crew left the materials for the rest of the job in a very neat and tidy tarpped package on the driveway.  We had very heavy rain the next day but the roof was fine.  The next day they returned to finish the job.  The new roof is beautiful, very trim and frankly much better than the roof that was replaced which was new when we bought the house.  Everything was cleaned up around the yard.  Dave came out and inspected the work.  During the inspection I noticed that our rain deverter was gone.  Although we did not have one in the contract, Dave personally went out the next day to get one and have it installed without an additional charge.  We have had very heavy rains since the job was completed and we are nice and dry inside.  Overall, we are very pleased with Dave's work and customer service.  He was very committed to do the job to our satisfaction.  We highly recommend him for your roofing needs.

We are pleased to submit this review for David J. Deschaine, Inc. He was very quick to respond to our initial phone call and scheduled an appointment for our first meeting. He arrived at the scheduled time and was very helpful in explaining the various products and options available to us. After we made our selections the work was quickly scheduled.
The crew arrived on time and worked very efficiently and completed the new roof installation in one day. The crew was very friendly and courteous and they cleaned up thoroughly at the end of their day.
We would highly recommend David J. Deshaine, Inc.

The  Siding and Roofing Job was completed quickly and we did meet with David Deschaine personally - Our home looks great, and all my neighbors stop and say how nice the house looks. The job was schedule in May 2012 and everything went as planned, and Jim installed the roof and siding in only 6 days from start to finish. We are looking forward to saving money on the Prodigy Insulated Siding David Deschaine recommended, and NO more ice dams with the metal roof that they insalled. We are VERY Happy with the work that was completed - It is so Beautiful, and we would strongly Recommend David Deschaine to anyone who is looking for a new roof or vinyl siding these guys are GOOD!Thanks Dave - Linda and Duane Cool - Gardiner Maine

The roof was put on very efficiently all in one day. The cleanup went very well. It was installed in the fall of 10 and then that winter I had ice dams which I hadn’t had the problem before. I called them about the problem and they said for $300 they would come and rake the roof for me. I thoughtt they were ducking the issue and I didn’t think they were taking responsibility for the problem that they caused. I raked the roof myself and can still get ice dams if it ices up during the night. This was not a problem before this roof was installed.

At the back of the house they ran a downspout from the gutter down to another downspout.  They replaced the old ones and installed new ones.  They were more expensive compared to others, but they were very professional.  We were totally satisfied.

After an extensive sales presentation in my home on all the reasons I should go with DESCHAINE , quality and guarentees etc of shingles and quality of work etc. I agreed to sign a contract with them. Decisions had been made and as a last step we went up to attic to look at  the underside of the roof. As we were leaving the attic I innocently asked "Is there any reason why  we can't  shingle over the existing roof?". The salesman, IMMEDIATELY said "we can do that and it would save you $3000 for shingle removal". We signed the agreement for the "roof over". We had spent extensive time during the presentation discussing the existing problem I had with one particular area of my roof. A problem that had bee present for 20+years, frequently resulting in snow dams with leaking in the house. With diligence, every winter, I had come up with some solutions that had prevented the ice dams and leaking, for the past 8 - 10 years and I was very eager to solve the problem permanently.
DESCHAINE  assured me I would have no  more problems and talked about the heavy ?rubber? barriers they would put extensively around all the eaves ( ie the edge of the roof)(This is my interpretation and my "terms" of the exact details of how these problems would be resolved) - but I was assured this would do it.
The night after they started the job it rained and water was POURING through the vent in my downstairs bathroom onto my newly installed laminate  flooring. Turns out DESCHAINE had installed a vent collar with a HUGH hole in it. I was concerned about the quality of workers on the job who would do such a thing.
To make a very long story shorter. With the arrival of that winter ( a harsh winter - 09-10), early on I had a VERY thick layer of solid ice on that same section of roof that was the spot of the bathroom leak and my primary area of concern. I I called DESCHAINE with concerns, I had never had ice like that - like I said - I had developed techniques to avoid the build-up of snow resulting in the ice dams. I had never had thick sheets of solid ice. DESCHAINE  response was "apply ice melt", subsequent calls conveyed that nothing I did could touch this problem that "ice melt" fell off this steep roof as soon as I applied it, etc. DESCHAINE could not have been more indifferent or unconcerned and "couldn't do anything until after the winter. I finally had to give up on that portion of roof for the ice just got thicker and thicker. As spring approached I had massive leaking affecting the four floors of my home, having to put buckets int he basement to catch the water flowing thru the walls.destroying my newly redecorated bathroom. and walls on every floor of my home. Extensive leaking on the other side of the house  as well as other areas where I had NEVER had problems occurred. And again damaging newly redecorated rooms. DESCHAINE  REFUSED to take any responsibility.  It was obvious that something DESCHAINE had done had upset temperature transference or something involving my roof.  Winter ended and finally in response to my numerous calls of upset and their assurance that they would see what they could do when winter was over they sent ?their roofing supervisor? (I don?t remember if that was the exact title he used) over. He went up on the roof and said there were several ?irregularies? in the job and he would get back to me. He didn?t ? when I inquired about the follow up DESCHAINE  disavowed ANY KNOWLEDGE of any such person coming to my home, that no such person existed!!! It was like being in Woderland. The bottom line was: DESCHAINE  refused to do ANYTHING ? ?there are not responsible for winter leaks and it was a terrible winter! And they were not at fault ? it was my responsibility to do any need snow removal?. I have lived in this house since 1987, thru many ?terrible? and worse winters & have never had problems on the east and south sides of the house. I discovered to my dismay that All of my ? guarantees and warranties were invalid because it had been a ?roof over? not a new roof. The elaborate ice barriers they were going to install "aren?t possible with  roof over?s", etc, etc. I had been told nothing of this when I asked about putting the shingles over the roof. I am 67 years old and roofing over used to be done all the time, I didn?t know it was not a good thing. EVERYONE in the roofing industry I have spoken to since this happened said ?it should NEVER have been done, they were the ones who told me my guarantees were now invalid ? not DESCHAINE! At my own expense I had to have another roofer fix my problems. As an aside, I reported this to the state and the BBB, in each case the person I spoke to ?was not surprised? I had had the problem with DESCHAINE  ? I understand this is hearsay and you may have to disallow it.
When I told DESCHAINE  I was going to report him to everyone I could, he threatened to sue me for liable. I would do anything to save people from going though the experiences with them that I did. If I pass someone with a DESCHAINE sign in front of their house I will stop to warn them. Someone warned me, DESCHAINE 's sign was in front of my house for most of the summer, because we had set for the job to be done in the fall. I didn't pay much attention because it was another roofer I knew and I just thought he wanted the job for himself. I am so sorry I didn't listen to him.
Your patrons should also be aware that, in my opinion, the BBB is very suspect also. This has been over a year ago and the details are foggy and I am not inclined to did out my records at this point. However,  I did file a complaint with the BBB, checked their records and they had unsettled complaints against  DESCHAINE , with out details.  He was still on BBB's recommended list. After filing very lenghty documents with the BBB- they passed the complaint on to DESCHAINE . DESCHAINE's  reply was simply, "they were not responsible for acts of the weather". That's it CASE CLOSED!  The BBB would continue to have them on their approved list and this would go down as one of the "Unresolved complaints". I asked that the details of my complaint be available to those inquiring. I was told that was impossible. I don't remember now where I got the indication that businesses PAY the BBB for some of the BBB's listings.
What I did learn from this, is that a BBB approval rating is questionable and that the BBB had no real concern to get this resolved.and that DESCHAINE's  response was all that was needed to end the issue.
End of story - I DO NOT RECOMMEND DAVID DESCHAINE INSTALLATIONS FOR ANYTHING!!!!!

We didn't shop around too much for price, so I can't comment on price competitveness. They were very professional from beginning to end. Did a very good job. Came when they said they would and were done when they said they would be. One or two very minor issues. I would use them again.

They talked a good story. The following spring, I had over $3000 of damage done to the interior of my home. They denied all responsibility for it. They sent people over here several times. Their "roofing manager" came over and told me that several things had been done incorrectly, and that they would take over it. When I asked about that later, they denied any existence of a roofing manager. When I complained to the Better Business Bureau about them, I wasn't listened to properly. The information of my complaints was never made public.

We had a leak on our roof. Our first appointment was rescheduled once, then again for a Saturday, but they never showed up. We scheduled again and they rescheduled that appointment again twice before finally they showed up. After evaluating our roof, I was told the cost would be $649 for a permanent fix. I said OK, go ahead. Before they started work the roofer came back and said that it was $949 not $649... A little fishy, if you ask me. So we went with a cheaper, not permanent fix and will not use this company for the more permanent fix.

The price was good. The owner, Dave, came out first, which was good. The communication was also good. There were some issues with the door, but they always told us what was going on. We are happy with the work. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.
