I love the service department!! Sales… not so much. I feel like they would sell me any car for any reason (not to mention, I feel like none of the sales associates know anything about cars!!). I have taken my business elsewhere for buying, where they treat me like an old friend, and I feel like they are helping me make a purchase decision, not sell me something I don't want. They are also SUPER pushy!

I am new to the area and called Berlin City for the two vehicle part recalls that we have on one of our vehicles.
The phone call was made on 3/9/15 and I was told that the parts needed to be ordered and that I could make an appointment for a week later.  They took all of my personal information, VIN, and the recall numbers so that the parts could be ordered.
I received an email reminding me of my service appointment, it confirmed the date and time.
I arrived on 3/16/15 for my appointment and was told that only one of the recall parts was in and that we would have to wait on the  other one.  I was told that the girl who made the appointment for me should have known and that they could handle one. They took the car back and performed the single recall part replacement and the oil change.
He again took all of my personal information and VIN even though all of that information was given when the appointment was initially made.
While I was there, their Quality Assurance person spoke with me and she seemed nice.  She stated that she would contact me after my appointment for feedback but I have never heard from her. Before I left I was handed a list of repairs that needed done to the vehicle.
I received a follow up call 3/20/15 asking why I had missed my service appointment with the suggestion that I should reschedule my service with them.
Supposedly they will call me when the second part comes in but I don't think that will happen since clearly I don't really exist in their system although I do have a receipt from the transaction.
This dealership has several customer service strikes against my returning to them for a visit:
#1 the error in my service appointment accomplishing all that I needed it to accomplish in one visit.  I wouldn't have bothered bringing it in until I could have handled it all in one visit had I known.
#2 taking all of my information a second time when I arrived.  Why do you make clients repeat themselves?
#3 stating that they would follow up with me to see how my visit went but never doing so
#4 calling  to find out why I missed my appointment although I was there.  Talk about a way to rub it in even more that this was a bad choice of a dealership to go to.  It is great to know that I was invisible and didn't count.
Unfortunately based on the dealings with the service department I will not be purchasing our new Honda from this location.

Sales people were very professional and knew a lot about the car we were interested in.

We had a new sales agent helping us and yes he was new but he was sincere and helpful and everyone has to start somewhere, we kept him there many hours after closing and he wasn't looking at his watch all evening, he was there to help us and get the job done and I like that.

My vehicle is a Honda, so took it here for scheduled oil change. The cost was more than other places, and was disappointed there weren't coupons offered. The waiting room was clean and spacious. I would take my vehicle here if something was wrong and under warranty, or couldn't be diagnosed elsewhere, otherwise I take it to my regular auto shop

Scheduling the appointment was fine, and I was glad to get the safety recall done on my car. They provided a nice service area for me to wait while they worked on my car. After they fixed the recall, they told me I needed new brake pads and rotors, and that it would be $500. I hadn't been expecting that, and when I hesitated due to the cost, the mechanic got a little pushy. I appreciate the attentiveness to what my car needed, but I didn't appreciate feeling pushed into a costly fix. The service to my car was fine, but I'm looking elsewhere for better customer service.

The salesperson was very polite and professional. I had done my homework- Consumer Reports, Edmunds and Carfax on the specific car we wanted. I had the price we wanted to pay, the % for title and registration, the amount for sales tax and the amount to pay for documentation fees. BEWARE- the dealership has $399 printed on its bill of sale for administrative fee- Consumer Reports suggests not to pay over $100. We ended up paying $125. However, there wasn't full disclosure that they charged us $399 for Theft Protection- we didn't realize this until we were closing with the financial person. We said we didn't know about this and didn't want the theft protection, but because we had signed the initial agreement with the salesperson, we were stuck with the theft protection. The dealership makes it look like you have to pay the $399 for administrative fee and they automatically add the theft protection without asking. We called out insurance agent and he said the protection isn't necessary and it wouldn't lower our insurance premium. The dealership said that it might help lower our premium. I won't go there again- I don't appreciate the ADDED CHARGES and the lack of full disclosure. Dealerships have many gimmicks to add to the cost of a car. Also, we were paying cash and wanted to buy it on the Thurs we were there, but would have had to wait 2 hrs for the financial person. We made an appointment for the next night and still had to wait over an hour. We almost walked out.

We started negotiating on price with on Saturday 7/27 with Bill Waldron. I had used Kelly Blue Book, so I knew what my car was worth. On Monday 7/29 we received a reasonable offer and countered. They accepted our counter and we agreed to pick up the new car 7/30. It was a Kona Coffee exterior with black interior. I noticed a small scratch on the rear door and called Bill, who said to bring it in and they would have it fixed.
I was busy the next day, so didn't bring it in until Thursday 8/1. I had realized by this time that the black interior made me nervous because I couldn't see anything in the back seat. I explained my concern and Bill said no problem, that was what the 4 day return was for. We found a Twilight Blue with light gray interior. The prepped it and had it ready for me that night. We resigned the papers, added an extended painted protection because it was a deal and drove out with our new new CR-V.
Bill Waldron was always friendly during this process and never made me feel like I was causing him any inconvenience. Everyone we dealt with from the dealer ship and financing was friendly and helpful.
We haven't had service yet but I expect it to be as good as the sales.
I think people have to do their research when buying a car. Use Kelly Blue Book to determine the value of you car and the Fair Market Price of the car you are buying. If you do better, good for you. If you don't get what you want and know it is reasonable, go somewhere else. I always expect to negotiate with car dealers. They want to make money and I want to save money.
All things considered, I am very happy with Berlin City Honda Sales department.

Berlin City had previously diagnosed the exhaust leak as the exhaust heder pipe and had given me an estimate of $375. the work was completed in a timely manor at well below the estimate. This fixed the problem and my accord is running great after 10 years and 250,000 miles! My car has always been serviced there since I moved to Maine in 2003.

Berlin City Honda of Portland are very good, but Honda sucks! It was good that they fitted the wiper blades, because that was a difficult job and I wouldn't have been able to do it. Berlin City is very good. The parts and service are excellent. All the people there are nice. I don't like the Honda sales and dealership side of the Company. I feel like Honda stole my car so I'm angry. They did a total recall of the Honda Civic Hybrid and changed the software so it gets half the mileage it used to.

I bought the car from them. Before it had gone 30,000 miles, I knew there was something wrong and I kept complaining and they couldn't figure out anything. So, when it had gone 90,000 miles, it turned out to be the transmission so we ended up splitting the cost. When I went in once for an inspection sticker and a check, they told me that I couldn't pass the inspection because I needed bearings which, however many years it has been since then, I still haven't replaced. They tell you things you need that you don't need so they can make some money off of you.
