STEVE HILTON PAINTING

Overall my experience with this company was terrible. I stated up front that I wanted the scraping and washing of the surface to be done well because I knew that was important to make the paint job last. I asked to inspect the surface before they applied paint. I went to the house once, and was unsatisfied. There was still extensive mold and peeling/chipping paint. I went back a 2nd time and the situation was not much better, and my conversation with Mr. Hilton and his worker did not go well. It was clear that they were not wiling to do the quality job they promised. I brought over another painting contractor that had been recommended to me. He did not feel the surface was properly prepared either. I felt I had no choice but to ask Mr. Hilton not to come back and I told him I would pay a reasonable price for the work he completed. We then had a long, drawn out disagreement about how much he should be paid. I hired the other contractor to start the job from scratch. The difference in surface preparation between Mr. Hilton and the new contractor was night and day. The new contractor properly washed and scraped/sanded the entire surface. It looked great before the paint went on - I was very satisfied with the new company I hired. I do not recommend hiring this Steve Hilton if you want a quality paint job. There are many other contractors out there that will stand by their word and do a great job. I recommend looking up reviews, calling their prior clients, and potentially even visiting their previous jobsites before hiring. It's more work to do the research, but could end up saving you a lot of money in the long run. Remember that a long lasting paint job requires the surface preparation to be done properly!
