Charles Shackleford

We hired Shackleford because his quote was in the ballpark of everyone else and a relative was working for him. (OK, we know THAT was stupid.) He did several jobs and a few of the smaller things he did ok. Part of the package was to replace an old roof. The old roof was not leaking but it was very old and we were trying to be pro-active. Within a year we started getting some bad leaks. Shingles have been constantly flying off the roof because they were not nailed down correctly.. He was non-responsive from the get-go and did such poor work we honestly didn't think he was capable of fixing what he did wrong. We wanted it corrected. We just had two contractors look at he roof. The story from both was the same. Roof had been done incorrectly and extremely poor materials used. For example, on the ridge, instead of using the special ridge shingles, he cut architectural shingles and bent them over. The result is that they have all split. The shingles he used are no longer carried even at Lowe's because of their poor quality. We paid $6,000 for the roof part and we are paying the same, three years later to redo the entire roof.
