Auto Service
I called Outback Towing and Recovery to see if they could do the work on my car. Andrew said they could so I brought the car to Outback. Outback Towing called me two weeks after they had the car and told me that they believed that they were a little over their heads and that they were taking it elsewhere for them to put the parts in and have the computer software updates done. Andrew Osborne, the owner of Outback, told me that he was taking it to a local authorized Volvo dealer mechanic to do the work. A week went by and Andrew called to tell me the car was all set. I picked it up and brought it home, the next day I went to start the car and it was dead. Andy came out later that day and jumped the battery and got it going. Andy then told me if it was dead the next day to call him. The next day the car was again dead, I called Andy. Andy told me to drive the car to Volvo in Bangor. I then told Andy I was not comfortable driving the car as I did not know what was wrong w/ it, plus I had never dealt w/ Volvo myself. Andy had subbed the work to Volvo so I thought he should be the one to tow the car to Volvo. Andy told me he may not be able to get to tow it for quite a few days so I then paid for a tow out of my pocket to get it to Bangor Volvo. Upon the tow truck driver putting my car on the flat bed we discovered that the sway linkage was not even attached to the steering rack. Whomever had put my steering rack in never attached the sway linkage. Not having the sway linkage attached could have cause me to have a major accident. I called Andy and told him I was having it towed and that it was a good thing because I could have gotten into an accident and I had children. Andy was shocked that Volvo did not attach the sway linkage but never apologized. Not to mention Andy supposibly had done an alignment on the front end of my car after Volvo had put the steering rack in and he never noticed that the sway linkage was not attached. What does that say about him as a mechanic? Anyways, so a few days later Andy calls and says that Volvo had gone back over everything they have done and they did fix the sway linkage but that they found nothing else wrong. So, Andy had taken the car back to Outback. Andy then called and said it had to be my battery and he was going to put a new one in it. I then told Andy we had just replaced my battery and I could not imagine that being the problem. ANdy argued and I said fine try it. So, Andy then called the next day to say they had put a new battery in it (another $168.00) and that it had been starting every time. I told him to keep it for a few days and to let me know if it started everyday or not. Andy called everyday saying it started so we brought the car home. The first day I took it to run errands the CHECK ENGINE light came on my dash, which I have never seen the CHECK ENGINE light on on this car before ever. So, I called Andy to tell him. ANdy did not call me back for three days and then said that the light could me a million things but to bring it in and they would hook it up to check it. So, a couple days later I went to take the car to Outback and again the battery was dead. So, basically I took a great running car w/ a leaking power steering rack to Outback Towing & Recovery and got a car that sits in my driveway every night and something is sucking juice from my battery. Many mechanics I have spoken w/ have said that it could be something they have done to the computer or maybe a wiring issue (because the steering rack had to be wired into the car). But, either way it could cost me thousands of dollars to even start to figure out what the problem is and then when they do find the problem it could cost twice that. I called Outback (Andy) to give him a chance to try and right this. Andy told me there was nothing more that he could do. So, now we have a car that is worse off than before and we are out $2600, meanwhile Andrew Osborne gets to walk away w/ $2600. It's just insane that someone can ruin your automobile and get away it. We have now been forced into going and buying another car. We have been dealing w/ the since July 13th and have just finally given up on August 24th. A month and a half of nothing but stress. I never would have thought this could happen and that someone could get away w/ it. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! Andy should have taken it upon himself to find anothe Authorized Volvo mechanic to fix my car out of his pocket, and he won't. I guess the costumer is not always right.
