He forget something and had to go back to the shop and get it, he then put the toilet in without difficulty
I initially called back and spoke to Doug Brown , on Labor day 9/7 or so, as I thought there was a leak , he did come out and confirmed no leak , I am not sure if he fixed something as I was not present
So that service was just ok and the toilet works fine
Oct 2015 , around the 12th I had them come over to look at my bathroom for a possible remodel , he looked at it very quickly and said about 3,000 and went onto say that would not include the plumbing etc.. I was just getting a stand up shower replaced and some plain tiles to the 1/4 of the wall area , it is a rental so did not want to pay a lot
I said no pass on this and then showed him the hot water heater under the the kitchen counter.
all the details he said about 2200 He and I talked about how the replacement would go , and all the details
He also brought a general contractor by , as I talked about wanting some height to the bedroom ceiling more space etc.
the contractor came with no ladder , I let him use the condo's , and he took measurements and would get back to me on a price
I never heard from either , I emailed Doug Brown 7 days ago and called x2, when I called today the woman who answered the phone first stated" He is very busy" etc then talked about other jobs he had , then got confused and her facts wrong saying I thought you did not want the job ( "You brought him all the way over there and then decided not to remodel the bathroom ) Hello I needed an estimate first ...
I told her atleast someone should of gotten back to me about the hot water heater start date and also the contractor
I told her I got this business from Angies list and I would be writing a reiew, she said fine and we finished
"We first replaced a toilet for Mr [Removed Member Name] at his rental. Toilet install went fine we did need a shim and had to return to the shop (2 minutes away) to get one as there were none left in the truck. Mr [Removed Member Name] was satisfied with the job and he even tipped our employee. We received a call afterwards, the renters said there was a leak from it. Doug himself went by, there was no leak, the toilet was sweating. Nothing was done to the toilet nor was there any charge to Mr. [Removed Member Name] for this call. For him to now insinuate otherwise is ridiculous. If he truly felt that was the case would he really then want us to do a larger job for him? Mr [Removed Member Name] later contacted us about getting a quote for a bath remodel. He asked to set up a meeting on a holiday which Doug agreed too. We also said we could bring a contractor who could do the other work needed not plumbing related. Mr [Removed Member Name] contacted us via email 1 hour prior to meeting to confirm. When Doug arrived Mr [Removed Member Name] told him he had decided against remodeling. He then said he might want to replaced the water heater in the future. Doug told him the price, water heater replacements are a flat rated job for us. We were told later on by the contractor we had brought with us that Mr. [Removed Member Name] requested he hang some corner shelving up. This was not what he had gone to give an Estimate on and he was not interested in doing the work. The contractor does not work for us and we are in no way responsible for communication between Mr. [Removed Member Name] and he. When contacted by Mr [Removed Member Name] a few weeks later he told me Doug had not given him an Estimate on the cost of the water heater yet a minute later he told me what we charge which was the EXACT flat rate price we charge. How could he have known if Doug had not told him the cost which he denied Doug did. He also needed it done in a certain time frame which we would not work with our schedule. October, November and December are very busy months with draining of summer homes. We also had previously committed to a large job that was starting sooner than originally planned. I told him for a job that was not an emergency we wouldn't be able to schedule it in for 2-3 months at that point in time. He was not happy with that. Had he had a hot water heater that went and the home was in use we would have gotten there ASAP, this was not the case and would be scheduled as a non-emergency. I should also note that during our conversation he repeatedly mentioned Angies List. He did so in a way that I knew if not given what he wanted we would be getting a negative review, and here it is."
"The service call was more than just changing the toilet supply tube. The toilet needed to be pulled, toilet extensions, toilet flange, bowl wax and bolts were installed and toilet was reset. Customer was supposed to call and pay her bill, have not received payment nor has she called to discuss her bill if she felt it was too much."
A year later and an update:
The NEW expensive water toilet that was installed, was too high for almost anyone to sit on comfortably. We had to have it replaced. The shower head was installed so high that my 5' 2and quot; aunt could not reach it to adjust it. We now have to get that re-done. Nothing leaks however.
Otherwise he did everything decent. Best to write a review after a few months after, things work great, but time tells all. best to wait a few months to test or to figure it all out. He still is a VERY GOOD plumber. You will appreciate his work.
He had to wrestle with a tight space, old plumbing and uneven floors. The house is 200 years old, and the old bathroom LEAKED so it was not useable. We bought the house in 2011, and it is a former B and B, but was empty for 2 years, so EVERYTHING had to be replaced. as that bathroom was not winterized.
Everything was brought up to the Town Code, and passed inspection.
Two months later with both my daughter and my husband having left hand quirkiness, the shower handle was revised,
AND NO CHARGE for the return visit for the minor adjustments.
