Appliance Doctor of Maine

About us

I repair appliances. I was raised in Aroostook County with a strong Maine work ethic and notion that earning your customer's respect and business goes hand in hand with good customer service, doing what you say you are going to do, and being honest. My cell phone is on from 6 AM to 9 PM 7 days a week to talk about your repair needs and to schedule an appointment. By discussing your problem before I come I can often bring the right part with me or sometimes there is something you can do and avoid a repair call. If you have a critical emergency please call anytime.

I would definitely call Mike again for any appliance problem.  His prices are very reasonable and he gave me a price up front so there were no surprises. Very prompt and trustworthy.

Mike was one of the few people I could find willing to even look at a cool old 1950s Caloric stove I bought for my camp. I was natural gas and he came to try to get it working on propane. I have to say, initially I was worried, as I seemed to be telling him more than he was telling me about the unit! However, he persisted and fiddled around with it until he figured out where the valves were and how to adjust them. Now it works! I am very happy with the results. Unfortunately, he could not get the broiler working, but it seemed like that was a bad part, possibly.

"[member name removed] stove was a challenge. The stove is older than I am and it had been modified from nautural gas to propane in another state then trasnportred to Maine without being tested by the company who who did the conversion. The propane company tried as well to start the unit but failed. I was not able to to find a service manual on the unit and it was older than me so I went to the job optomistically but pretty blind. With the knowledge [member name removed] had accuumulated along the way on his stove togther we were able to get the top burners and the oven to ignite and work. The broiler would not ignite and the only logical deduction after multiple tests was that the gas valve/thermcouple was faulty or the sensor. Parts are no longer made for this unit so I have been keeping my eye out for used parts to help [member name removed] out. This stove is very cool as [member name removed] states but it is a very difficult challenge to fix when your trying to fix someone elses work and you do not know exactly what they did to it."

He had to order the part for the refrigerator and I had to wait for 2 days while all my food spoiled.  I would expect an appliance doctor to have parts on hand.  He finally came back and replaced the fan.  $358.00 later plus the cost of my food is extremely expensive.  I will never call him again.tt

"This is not my customer. I have no record of of the customer name, the address, the invoice amount, or the situation. My direct cell number is 207 458 3377. I would appreciate a phone call to understand who is impersonating me. I am a one man show and know every one of my customers. I have never charged more than 200$ for a evaporator or a condensor fan replacment and my promotions are always a discount off the total invoice or a donation to a charity. The customer may have me mistaken by name for some other company. My service vehicle for July was a Gray Toyota Yaris"

My GE side-by-side refrigerator started losing temperature on a hot Sunday afternoon.
On Monday I contacted the appliance store I bought it from looking for same day service - nothing for 2 days.  Sears was the same, actually 3 days.
I went to Angie's list and immediately called Mike's cell phone.  I explained the problem and he knew immediately the mother board had failed.  He said he needed to check his supplier and then called me back in 5 minutes to say he could have a mother board the next day.  He gave me a cost and I told him to order the part.  He didn't think he could get to me until Wednesday since he had other work scheduled Tuesday afternoon, which was the earliest the part would be in.  I shared my concern about waiting another day without a refrigerator and he arranged to change his current Tuesday afternoon appointment so I could have my refrigerator back up and running sooner.
A true professional, rearranging his schedule to assist his customer !!
He tolerated the 'help' from my beagles and then spent extra time leveling the refrigerator, which is nearly impossible on my old house floors.
I have already recommended him to my friends and neighbors..
Great job Mike.  I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again, as the rest of my appliances age.

On a Monday afternoon, I clogged my front-loading washer's drain when I washed a rug and the backing on the rug flaked off.  The washer ruined its motor trying to drain the tub.  I found Mike on the web, read the testimonials and the Angie List reviews, and gave him a call.  As advertised on the web, he answers his own cell!  He was very friendly, very professional, and confirmed he could do the job.  As he was out on a call, he arranged to call me back within an hour, asking that I provide him with the model number of washer so he could see what he'd be up against. He promptly called back, ordered the part, and we made the appointment for two days later, in the late afternoon.
On Wednesday, he was right on time.  He got right to it and in two hours the washer was as good as new. I was very impressed and more importantly, totally satisfied with Mike's work.  This guy is the real deal, making house calls after hours to accommodate customers.
