Mid-Coast House Inspections

About us

Buying a new home is the biggest investment most people will ever make. It's a decision that will affect you for many years. The process can be very stressful and confusing, and a lot of risk is involved when making such a big decision. A professional inspection will greatly reduce your risk and help make the entire home buying process easier and less stressful. You should choose your house inspector very carefully and make sure that he or she is a "good fit" for you. Nobody has any extra money to spend these days, but the amount of the inspection fee should be the least important of your considerations when choosing an inspector. If you want an inspector who will take his time going carefully through the house observing and evaluating its many details and systems, who will answer all of your questions, and who will then spend several hours producing a custom-written and detailed report that fully explains what is found during the inspection, then please give us a call. We encourage all of our clients to accompany us during the inspection. You should ask the inspector any questions you may have during the inspection process. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask. The inspector will point out problems and explain them to you. He will also show you the good points of the house, and explain how the systems work. Plus, he will explain what routine maintenance is needed to keep the house in top condition. You will find that attending the inspection to be time very well spent. We cannot promise to find everything that is wrong with a house or everything that might cause you problems while you live there. Nobody can promise that, certainly not in the amount of time that is available for an inspection. Our main purpose is to help you to understand what you are getting yourselves into if you purchase the property. We have been doing that successfully since 1985. During the inspection, we expect to find any major problems that might exist at the time of the inspection and we are usually successful at that as well.

They are excellent. They were good in terms of having both of my sons' home inspected before I purchased them. I worked with the guy; there are not many people in this area. He was very professional, right on the money with everything, and was prompt. He had a good software, the reported that he generated was a thirteen pager and came out in a few days; the report was accurate. He highlighted a couple of things and also a couple of things that I missed. I am a builder myself but he got to places that I did not go. He was top-notch.

Hank was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable. Throughout the inspection he provided helpful background insights and suggestions and cited recent conferences he'd attended and papers he'd read to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field. He knows the Harpswell and surrounding areas well and includes his deep background knowledge of the climate, soils, air quality, rock and coastline into his assessment. Hank conducted a very thorough inspection of the building and really left no stone unturned. I was impressed with his energy level and stamina for such a lengthy process. Whereas I think some home inspectors try to scare potential buyers, Hank was fair in his assessment of what needed to get fixed and what might just be a nuisance or something to be aware of. The written report was very well prepared. It was lengthy, but original (not a template form), well written, insightful and instructive. I would definitely hire Hank again.

What we loved most about Hank was that he explained what he was seeing as he went through the inspection. We asked lots of questions and he gave us his expert opinion. He made us feel very comfortable asking, and took enough time to ensure we understood. It was a very cold and snowy day, but Hank went out to examine as much of the exterior house as he could through the accumulation. We walked away feeling as if we knew what condition the house was in by the time we left that day. Hank then proceeded to write a report with pictures and describing what he observed, then offered recommendations and the rationale to support his comments. The report was thorough and will provide a great reference document for the future as well. It's the first time I've ever felt that the inspector provided information and an experience worth the price. I would use this company again.
