I love them. They're very conscious about the environment. We have a cottage on the water and they're very conscious of preventing pesticides from getting into the water. He's very good and he doesn't require a yearly contract. Whenever we need him, we call him and he comes out, which I like.

This spring I noticed carpenter ants in my kitchen and an adjoining room in the rear of the house. (We had them six or seven years ago so I quickly recognized them). I first called two of the and quot;big, nationaland quot; companies. They both followed the same approach: and quot;Sign a one year contract and we'll come out and spray the baseboards in every room of your house every three months.and quot; Total cost quoted for the year was over $700. Of course, they wanted to bill me monthly for their quarterly work? Worse, their proposed approach told me they didn't know or understand that carpenter ants and quot;don't wander the whole house.and quot; Carpenter ants have a nest and are found in the general area of that nest.

Fortunately I kept looking and came across a listing for EnviroCare. I liked that they were actually living and working in the Central Maine/Augusta/Gardiner area. I called and spoke with Charles, the owner. He made an appointment with me for the very next day. I was impressed when he showed up a few minutes early for his appointment. He then did a very thorough inspection all around the perimeter of the house and all through the basement. I walked around the outside with him for part of the inspection and he made some excellent recommendations and suggestions for reducing and quot;moistureand quot; problems in several areas (since carpenter ants need moisture).

When he completed his inspection he asked me to come outside. He found not one, but two nests and showed me the entrance point for each nest. After treating the two nests and all around the perimeter of the house, he explained we would continue seeing them for the next week or two. He added, and quot;at some point after a week or so, there will likely be a mass migration from the nest. They'll know something's wrong so they'll flee, not realizing that they're already dead.and quot; ( I happened to witness the and quot;mass migrationand quot; from the one nest. It was an amazing sight). He also told me that if I were to see anymore after that, to call him and he would come back and treat again - at no additional charge. He was right. After about 2 weeks all disappeared. That was early May.

Now at the end of August, we noticed a lone, stray carpenter ant in the area of the kitchen door about a week ago. I didn't give it much thought. But then a few days later that number grew to 8 or 9 ants. I called Charles late yesterday. He made an appointment for the end of today, was on time and after asking me several questions, went about completing another thorough inspection. He then found what looks to be a new nest, in a whole new location (above the kitchen door). He treated the area and before leaving, he again reminded me the ants should disappear in one to two weeks. He then added, and quot;Don't hesitate to call me anytime you see ants. That's what I'm here for.and quot;

Wow, a business owner who has years of experience in his field, is very knowledgeable, charges a reasonable rate for his service - and then actually means it when he gives his customers a one year warranty. Excellent customer service!
