"What does a homeowner know about the difficulties of such a job. I cant remember her looking in the hole while we were in it to see how tight and difficult it was. I have been doing this for 30 years a lesser person wouldn't have know what to do in some of the issues we ran into. I hope after reading this her scores don't make sense. First of all I arrived late at night the first visit and didn't charge anything for it. The pump was in a very unsuitable situation. The well pump was in a up righted culvert with a foot square hole for access. Barely could one person fit. Down 4 to 5 feet or more was the well seal. Down there we had to practically stand on our head to work. The well seal many times takes a long time to remove with corroded bolts that have to be cut off one by one. In a wide open hole these sometimes take over and hour to remove. This was not a wide open hole by any stretch. These circumstance obviously slows down any similar job considerably. Once we finally got the seal off, we they had to customize our well puller (an over 3000 dollar machine) because of this shoddy set up. As far as "talking" to my helper...one always needs an out of the hole guy and someone to get parts and tools so the guy in the hole doesn't have to climb in and out every time. That would be a very unrealistic expectation to require of anyone. Plus that would have been next impossible to ask a guy to do. In and out of a hard to get out of hole perhaps 12 or more times. We don't cut corners on jobs like this. If the wire that goes down the hole to power the pump should be attached every 8 to 10 inches to the pipe then we do that. Some attach it every 2 to 3 feet...I have seen it. In about 1 to 2 years it chaffs the wire and has to be replaced. Attaching the wire properly in a 210 foot well takes time. It takes well over and hour...closer to two hours. We also put 3 Torque arrestsers on a well that deep. Most only put one maybe 2. The prior installer only put one on this one. All this attention to details take time and always should be done. As I said we don't cut corners. I know a lot of people that do this kind of work and would say that the cost would have been 500-750 more for the same work. I know that some charge the same as we charged for ground level much easier well jobs. In as far as the sediment is concerned that cant be helped...when you slide a well pump, pipe and wire in a 200 foot hole it is bound to stir up the silt and scrape the sides of the well casing. It doesn't have to do with how we did the work. It happens in every well pump replacement job we do. Sometimes it goes away in 2 days; 2 weeks or 2 months one can never tell. I am sad to see that Irene didn't see the value and quality work in a very tough situation that we did at a reasonable price. She was happy that we suggested that she may want to consider replacing the pump itself while we had it pulled out. She agreed to do that as it made sense. She is a woman running her own household and I do know some plumbers that would take advantage of that. They would have told her that the well pump was gone even when it still ran. Most likely she wouldn't have know the difference. The issue was a bad wire only. She could have put the old pump back in and was appreciative of our suggestion to consider the new pump...Which she agreed with. She seemed happy that we got her water going and thanked us that late night . Many companies would have gone home at five and left her overnight without water. We generally want to get folks out of the lurch they are in..that's why we stay to finish even if it is 9 o'clock. We try to treat everybody fairly and as the golden rule says...do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I feel we did that Thanks Paul PS.I don't know the change of heart after the fact. Sometimes they listen to the teenager at Home Depot that says...well that should have only cost..blah blah."
"First of all this person purports to be the homeowner. She is NOT the homeowner, she is the owner of a property management company. We have tried and tried to stay or get in contact with them. They don't answer their phone, emails or anything. How can we try to make it right with them if they are avoiding us because they owe us money. If a part of the work that we WERE hired(I was hired to replace only the copper pipes that were stolen from the basement area.) to do leaked or something we would make it right. They just went ahead and hired a company to do work they say we didn't do. That work was more than likely work within the house that we were not hired (or priced out) to do. She is laying blame on us for something we were never hired to do. As is stated above and below. I was hired to replace only the copper pipes that were stolen from the basement area. The quote was only for that part of the job. We weren't hired to do anything above the basement level as this is where the stolen pipes were taken from. None were taken from the house area itself. Customer was only billed for that work. It was completed as for what we were hired to do. She even states that in her comments as such(Hired plumber to install pipes that were vandalized). Other areas within the house may have been frozen and broken as this was a foreclosed property but, we were not hired to do or check the rest of the plumbing within the house itself (just the basement). We have a lot of man hours in this job and quite a bit of materials into this so far. Copper pipe these days is not cheap. We haven't seen a cent for this project as of yet. It has been months. As I see it this complaint is just a way of self justification for not paying for good hard work done by us not to mention quite an amount of materials we have into it. They have not given us a chance to make it right if we were in the wrong. They gave us a 0.5 rating out of the blue. Please check our other ratings and see for yourself that this is so low that it can't be warranted of justified. We do quality work and pride ourselves in doing that kind of work. We are honest company and are not happy unless folks are satisfied. These folks never gave us a chance to talk about where the issues were. Either they were they in the work that we did and were hired to do or there issues in the upstairs plumbing that we were not hired to do. How can one make it right when there is little or no communication. I am still wondering if it is because they are trying to get out of paying (over 3000 dollars) and need self justification to save conscience. I have been in business for over 15 years and have seen this play out this way when folks want to get out of paying for honest hard work done to get them back up and going. Really a 0.5 rating?? Its thing like this that make me wonder why I stay in business. Thanks for reading. Paul Carter Owner Patriot Plumbing and Heating"
