"The 6-7 hour work days throughout the project that the crew worked were consistent with the first 2 weeks, because they live an hour away. I provided the client with invoices/receipts weekly throughout the project, as well as more in depth invoices/receipts twice upon request detailing what my crew did for work to fix work done by a previous contractor that the client fired. The client wrote a check for $2450 for the final invoice (which was $2500), then put a stop payment on the check without warning. After about 3 weeks, the client did end up meeting me with a final check for $2510 to cover the final invoice and bank fees that I incurred. When the client sent me a message the day before my business trip a couple weeks ago, I provided a procedure (e-mail photos and a detailed description of what was going on with their stairs) which he agreed to, but never followed through with. Last week when I got back into town I sent them the following e-mail and have not received a response: "Hi *client*, It's been a couple weeks since I last heard from you so I wanted to touch base to see if you would still like me to take a look at your exterior stairs. The last time we spoke before my business trip, you were going to send me an email with pictures and a detailed description of what's going on so I can come prepared to fix the problem. Please email your description if you would still like work done. Thank you and have a good afternoon, Melinda""
All in all it was a very satisfactory experience. No we decided that we needed a new front door, we immediately called Melissa. The only negative thing is that she is so busy that it takes some time to book her but she is worth the wait.
I would rate A1 and will hire her for any future projects.
Melinda is so great to work with, I feel as if I didn't cover half of what she did. She is a perfectionist, in the best way. Our bathrooms were a wreck. My house is a 1941 garrison colonial with just 1 and 1/2 baths. The downstairs bathroom had been flooded by horrible disaster in our upstairs bathroom. The walls were buckling around an outlet and the ceiling had completely fallen apart. Melinda made the bathroom look pristine. She is very thorough and pulled up the old floor, where we found a still fairly wet subfloor. She dried it out and installed a beautiful new tile floor. Melinda is very detailed oriented and I am quite picky about my surroundings. Every day she packed up all of her gear and was very conscious of the fact that we were living in the house. The upstairs bath was not in as bad condition, but it now looks like a completely different bathroom. We worked together to design a custom vanity and cabinet, as my house is small and the gigantic pre made ones don't fit. Her carpentry work is 1st rate. She came up with ideas I would not have thought of. We had the cabinet above the toilet go to the ceiling and she put in tasteful and appropriate crown molding to make the cabinet look like it was built with the house. Her paint job was immaculate and again, even though this was our main bathroom in the center of the house, she cleaned everything up every night and unless you opened the bathroom door, you wouldn't have known there was a huge project under way.
Aside from Melinda's work, she is a very nice person to have around. I work out of my home, I'm quite private and it was very easy having her there. We missed her so much when she left, we're having her back next year to build a custom garage that will match our house! I can't recommend her highly enough.
