The Maine office of The Cleaning Authority is locally owned and operated by Skip and Laure Ford and has been established since 2001. We currently serve 230+ customers in Mid-Coast and Southern Maine. We provide everything needed to clean your home – environmentally-friendly cleaning products, microfiber non-scratch cleaning cloths, and HEPA filtration vacuums. Our professional cleaning staff is given comprehensive and continuous training in green cleaning and in our exclusive Detail-Clean Rotation System. All employees are bonded, fully insured, and thoroughly background checked. Each day 20% of our homes cleaned are surprise inspected by either one of the owners or the office manager, Tammy Cressey, to ensure quality. It was going good, but the teams started to change frequently and the quality of the cleaning was dropping. They would often leave lights on and occasionally leave the door unlocked. Finally we had a clock get broken and we cancelled the service. When we first started I could call and talk to someone rather quickly. In the last year or so they changed to use what sounds like a national switchboard - making it very difficult to get someone in a reasonable amount of time. Emails would often go days without getting answered. I just found the service to be dropping from what it once was.

Laure came to my home gave me a professional quote and explanation of services offered. She set clear expectations of what her team would do each week. Because of a shift work schedule in my home she is flexible on scheduling. The team that has been to my house have been friendly, thorough and professional. The first to cleanings were more detailed and cost more but well worth it. After the first 2 rotations the price drops. I also was able to designate areas of the home to not be cleaned unless requested and was give a quote in writing of what it would cost to add those rooms.

The team arrived on time, did an outstanding job on rooms that were in rather bad condition as regards to routine cleaning. They will be returning soon to do the initian clean on the rest of the house. Based on this first clean, I can strongly reccommend this business.

I have had other cleaning services in the past with just one person. This cleaning service requires first two initial detailed cleans which costs more. Once this is done they rotate the detailed cleaning at a lower cost. I have found them to be about the same and better than the other housekeeping services. I like the fact that two people come in and take less time to clean the house at a reasonable cost. They are efficient and thorough in cleaning. I have had them for the past few months and they come twice a month. The only problem I have with them is they don't arrive at the same time, it is not a problem unless you are home. Other than that I find them to be friendly and efficient. I have had several other cleaning services in the past including The Maids, and individual house cleaners . The price is reasonable considering what I have to pay for the others and the job that they do is better. I would recommend them to others.

A cleaning crew of 2 showed up at the house an hour after we were told. This was a one time cleaning and they had unlimited time in the house. It was for a moveout cleaning and the house needed cleaning top to bottom. The crew was there for 2.5 hours. They left cobwebs, didn't clean the woodwork. Did not clean insides of cabinets and the kitchen floor was left, still looking dirty. On the upside, the manager came back the following week to check the job. The manager was there for an additional 3 hours to finish the job that was not completed. That is the only upside to this. I believe that the crew, being a sunny Friday, wanted to call it a day. I really would not reccomend this cleaning agency, for one time cleanings. They may do a better job for continous jobs.

Shoddy work, made excuses for poor cleaning or completely denied such things as undusted surfaces, fingerprints, dirty floors. Dropped an expensive classical guitar and denied responsibility. Owner stood by word of his employees and called me a liar.
