I wanted to buy a high quality pool table. I was looking for something that would play well, but also be beautiful, well designed and last forever. I spent a long time looking at the tables offered by the usual higher end manufacturers like Connelly, Brunswick, Olhausen but was not satisfied with their hackneyed designs of with the quality of their workmanship. I eventually stumbled onto Howard's website and was immediately captivated by his designs which are original and quite beautiful. Howard is a professional woodworker and it shows in his careful choice of woods and his use of the best kind of joinery (mostly mortoise and tenon). Equally important, his tables are really well engineered. The guy who installed the slate said that he had installed over 7000 tables in his career and had never seen a table that was as sturdy and as well designed. as part of the package that Howard offers, he comes out to personally set the table up (except for the slate for which he will hire someone in the your area). When the first slate installer we used did not quite get the table level, Howard found someone else and paid to have it done again. Overall, we are very happy with both the experience of dealing with Howard and with the beautiful table he made. Our six year old just loves playing on it. Howard's tables are expensive, but I think that for the value you get, they are worth it.
