When we took it in to the shop and described the problem, he said it was probably the cord. No problem to fix. The next day he left a voicemail saying that the vacuum was ready for pick up and that it was indeed the cord. To be honest, I had prepared myself for buying a new vacuum cleaner. It would have been very easy for him to sell me a new one. Instead, he identified a simple problem and fixed it. High marks for integrity.
