Description of Work: Midcoast Internet Solutions, owned by a company called GWI, provides radio broad band internet services to my home. Were a more competent and reliable internet company available in my area I would switch in a heart beat. As it is only Hugesnet and their parent company Wild Blue are available. I would not recommend this service unless there are no other reliable alternatives.

 + -1 moreTwo of their tech support people came to investigate the connectivity issues with their hardware (radio transmission receiver, router/gateway) which they replaced with brand new equipment after a 2hr process of troubleshooting... they said they would return soon to install a longer antenna and/or new dish receiver, but they have yet to return... Additionally, there was NO TROUBLE TICKET recorded as a result of that home visit. When we call their tech support line, ONLY available M-F 8a - 5p, Sat 9a - 12p, Th 6p - 9p, we have to talk with "Cal", a man who needs to learn that the CUSTOMER is ALWAYS RIGHT ~ He has DENIED that the internet disappears during the hours that we lose it stating that they have received no complaints from other residences using the service. He tries to use logic to disagree with the customer all but stating that we are lying about the lack of service ... Cal is a POOR customer service representative with MINIMAL computer expertise, as evidenced by his inability to troubleshoot the problem effectively with the customer ~ instead, his attempt to troubleshoot the problem usually ends up in an argument about whose problem it is to fix... Midcoast Internet Solutions would be smart to fire Cal for a high school student who has a better understanding of technology than Cal appears to have ...
Description of Work: This company is experimenting with providing long distance wireless broadband internet service to customers in remote areas. One of the towers they erected in Somerville was placed on private property and is powered primarily by solar power, secondarily by wind power and battery backup during bad weather and darkness because the land owner did not want to provide electrical service to the internet tower from his personal electric service. When internet service is available the speeds are BETTER than cable broadband speeds ~ HOWEVER, the internet is only available 50% of the time because of the poor weather conditions, many hours/day of darkness, and SUBSTANDARD TECH SUPPORT HOURS/SERVICE...
