The cobbler talked in detail about the different Vibram soles he could use, and we came to a mutual decision. Work was performed 1 month earlier than estimated, for which I am happy, since it's hiking season! This is my 3rd shoe repair job I've given them, and the work is top quality. Thanks Yankee Cobbler!

Dec 2011
I brought my boots to Yankee Cobbler to get the soles replaced (I walk about 1000 miles/year). The nice woman behind the desk told me that they had a backlog and that it would be at least 4 months. I confirmed I was OK with this as I had another pair of boots to use. I returned in November, under the assumption that 5+ months would be long enough, When I entered the shop and confirmed my order number, I was told that it would be another month or so (and reminded that I had been told it would be 3 months or more.)
On 12/5 I received a phone messaage indicating that my boots were done and I could pick them up. I picked them up, noted the sole appeared to be attached properly, and paid the fellow behind the counter.
Upon returning home, I discovered that the leather had dried almost completely out. Areas of higher stress in the leather were deeply cracked. I am attempting to relubricate the leather and preserve them for as long as I can. I should be able to get 4-6 months out of them.
I have dealt with this company before and their work has always been reasonably speedy (usual time to completion: 3 months).
Their shoe backlog is 6 months at least, but while I was there I saw a fellow bring in a backpack for repair, They were already working on it as he walked out the door (while my boots were languishing in a cubby in the back).
Their tailoring/alterations/clothing repair may be prompt and efficient (I would not know, I have not utilized them for this), but their boot repair leaves entirely too much to be desired.
If you need boots resoled or repaired, there are several, well-reviewed, places online with turn-around times measured in weeks, not months.
