Came up to Maine to open up 3 camps, one had a leak in the underneath plumbing, it was the feed to the toilet. This was the weekend of Memorial Day. I have used ABM in the past but couldn't get an appointment until a week later, I needed it done sooner. Using Angie's List, Tim's Plumbing was 3rd company I called, they were able to accommodate my short notice request. I was told they'll send someone out Wednesday around 9 to 9:30AM. Two [younger than me] guys showed up right at 9AM, I give them an A for punctuality. I showed them the area of leak loaning my mirror and LED flashlight so they could see the area of leak. I would have fixit it myself (I've done plenty....) but chickened out on account of how tight the access was. It required special effort (and time) only because the camp has settled over the years leaving ZERO crawlspace for access. With my luck and Murphy's law governing my repairing career, It would not have gone well. I have learn to recognize a snafu when I see it. Fortunately the leak was close to foundation edge. After moving stones, bricks and what dirt they could, it afforded just enough room to cut and replace the section with 'Pex (he had to use a shorty tubing cutter). Pex is all I ever use for repairs since I discovered it, no more soldering or burst copper pipes! The first attempt was unsuccessful, it was only then I $aw the first sign "we might have to cut the floor for access". I was not present for the repair procedures. Another 20 or so minutes later, they had it fixed, (no floor cutting). They also replaced the feed petcock. If two of them had a little trouble, one of me would have had a lot of it.... The actual repair was simple, getting to it was not. The fix was worth $240 to me (the bill goes to the owner).
My ONLY complaint, and it is a minor one, they accidentally took my flashlight. I'm sure it was unintentional. He'll realize it at some point and feel bad about it. But I would never expect him to drive back here for a $5 flashlight.
I will use Tim's plumbing again when I need. I was impressed that they were able to accommodate on short notice immediately after a long holiday weekend) and they showed up when they said they would, that means a lot to me, especially in 'laid-back' Maine.
2 thumbs up.They told me they charge $80 an hour. if I pay them for 2 hours it is $160. I should be getting a refund of $320. When I called the owner he did not return my calls. I continued to call for 5 days. I never heard back. On the 5th day I left a message saying that I would be taking other actions if I did not hear back from him. He called me back then and screamed in my ear that he would not be giving me any refund and hung up on me. I think this is very bad business. He cashed my deposit check well before the work was done.
