I am new to the area and don't have a regular vet yet - I had no idea where to go or what to do when my cat got sick today, but thought because this was a hospital and not a standard vet, I'd have a better chance with an emergency situation. I called in around 1pm to see about getting immediate help. They told me they couldn't take any new patients and couldn't see my cat. They refused to even give me any advice over the phone. I asked if there was any other place I could go to or that could help me over the phone because I needed to see someone today. I was told to wait until the emergency vet opened at 5:30pm. My cat didn't live until then. They were totally unwilling to provide any sort of help when I desperately needed it. This is not a place I'd want to trust any more of my pets with.

The vets always have time to explain everything in detail. They are extremely thorough and take time to answer any and all of our questions.

The sneezing developed into an infection just prior to the head X-ray, so an antibiotic was one of the meds we were given, along with an antihistamine and a steroid. With the head X-ray showing nothing, the only other recourse along that route was a nasal probe in Portland, the cost of which would have been close to $1000. We opted for the meds. Our cat was pretty lethargic from the anesthesia necessary for the head X-ray, which we were told about in advance. We administered the meds and fortunately, the sneezing slowly disappeared. However, it now appears to be making a slow return a couple of months later. I've written a prior review, but wanted to ad this after some experience with them. One of the things I appreciate most is the ability to call them with developments and questions. Most likely the vet (we have Dr. Olsen) will be in an appointment, but they always call back and answer any concerns I've raised. With this latest development, Dr. Olsen listed the possible responses, and described their advantages and disadvantages, settling on supplementing the present steroid with an antihistamine, with the range of dosages and frequency we can play with, and encouraging me to give her a call if it wasn't working. Great customer (patient) service!

Visit went well. Doctor gave a complete examination and asked all the right questions. In all likelihood, this is a minor issue resolvable with fur-ball medicine and it was good to know that other flavors are out there that our cat may find more agreeable. We had Dr. Olson

Wonderful! I've been taking my pets in for care from Dr. Remington for a length of time, and recently Dr. Richie. It is clear that they love what they do. I appreciate their patience and concern for the welfare of my pets.
We lost our therapy dog, Sally, who has been with our family for over 12 years. She was a gentle golden-retrieve mix who was always by my side. I cannot describe how hard it was to let her go. Dr. Remington helped me deal with the Sally's loss with such kindness and understanding.
We have recently acquired a sheltie puppy, who I hope to train for the much needed therapy dog position, so that he might brighten the lives of patients now and then. I know that I can trust this veterinary clinic to provide expert counseling and care as this little fellow matures and develops a relationship with us, and eventually the patients.

My cat had something wrong and after much testing and even referring me to another vet no one could figure it out. I'd signed papers with the other vet to have my cat put down. On the drive home Dr. Richie called to tell me he would do surgery. After the surgery we still couldn't figure out the problem but my cat survived and is still, years later, doing great! The other vet told me I'd have to take him to Boston and leave him there to figure out the problem. Since I was taking care of my aged father and my young son I just couldn't afford the time or money to go to Boston. It was the only option the other vet offered. Dr. Richie saved my cat's life.

I was a little surprised that the veterinarian was a little messy, but she was great with the dog and I was extremely pleased with the service. I would not judge the person in question upon walking into the clinic I guess would be the main point. I had called at least half a dozen veterinarians and they were well below everyone else in the area as far as price goes and I was certainly not disappointed for making that choice. I would use them again in the future if I needed to.

Our dog had been limping for 2 days, and since it was a holiday weekend, our regular vet was not available. However, we called Bangor Vet. Hospital and they were able to squeeze us in. Dr. Olson diagnosed our dog's problem as a torn cruciate ligament, and gave us recommendations on doctors who perform this surgery (their office doesn't). She and I ended up sitting on the floor with our dog, discussing his general health, and ways to improve it. She treated our dog with care and respect and was truly concerned with his well being. We found her extremely personable and down-to-earth. She also provided excellent information about the best way to feed our dog so he could lose some weight and she provided details on supplements that would help his arthritis. Incredibly, she suggested shopping around for the best prices for these supplements and other medications and was not trying to sell us their products. She gave us prescriptions that we could take with us and use for an online medication company if needed (some vets will not do this). The prices for these items at Bangor Veterinary Hospital were, however, lower than at most vets, and the difference was shocking! We will be switching our other pets to BVH in the near future, that's how pleased we were with the overall service and feel of the place!

We still have more issues to address with my dog but I have confidence that this practice has my dog's best interest at heart.

My dog was seen by a veterinarian within 20 minutes when I dropped into this facility without an appointment.
My puppy was treated very professionally and kindly by this facility. The veterinarian was excellent and and quot;spot-onand quot; the diagnosis. Dr. Weston informed me that she could not find anything abnormal but tenderness in the paw area. She said that x-rays were not indicated at this point in time. I was advised to bring the puppy back in a week if she was still limping.
The puppy was fine in a few days just as Dr. Weston had predicted.
I appreciated that Dr. Weston was conservative in treatment by not ordering unnecessary and costly X-rays. The veterinarian only prescribed enough (costly) medicine to resolve the problem. Also, the veterinary office was nice enough to split the pills for me.
The Veterinary Hospital was very clean and the office staff was attentive/friendly.
