This is kind of long but bear with me... The good: Tech showed up on time. He was friendly, polite and seemed very knowledgeable. The not so good: He started making little comments about the brand of AC unit we have (Trane unit 11 years old). The unit was working, but it was not pumping out cold air. After going through and checking the thermostat, the coils, the furnace, the outside fan, the fuses, he pulled off the side of the fan and attached a piece of equipment to it that was telling him different diagnostics of the unit. The bad: After taking off the panel, he began talking about how it probably has a leak. Here is the breakdown of the cost to repair this unit according to this company: $303 to remove the blower assembly $1076 for the ultra violet light $441.00 to clean the condenser coil $1820.00 total to see where the leak was coming from + $410 for the leak search with electronic LE: + $4195 for replacement of indoor OEM coil + $4643 for replacement of outdoor coil $12,888 total to fix the leak. Or we could just buy a new Lennox Ac unit from them. Which would save us money in the long run. The entire appointment felt like a sales pitch to purchase a new unit from them up to the point where he put me on the line with someone at his office to have someone come out and give us an actual purchase quote. Later that day my wife got on Angies list and found another company "HVAC Direct Heating and Cooling". Their tech came out the next day, looked at the same things that Horizon did. He found out there was a leak, put some kind of sealant in it, filled it up with refrigerant, let me know that it was running and charged me less than $800 to fix it which included a maintenance contract (which I asked for). I would be very wary of using Horizon Services if I were you. In the event you do call them for service and they try to sell you a new unit to replace the one you have, you might want to call another company out for a second opinion.

People who are coming to do the tune-up perform a great job and always provide me with a feedback of the conditions of my heating or A/C unit. They always change the filter, included in the price. Terrific. The servicemen were careful to use shoe covers in coming into the house. Both men gave me assured me that the system, although the most basic there is, was doing fine. This was in contrast to an earlier company whose serviceman said that my system had needed at least $5K in updates but actually a total overhaul for a total of $7K. I appreciated the honesty of Horizon's servicemen. Also Horizon gave me the best deal ever for a spring and fall tuneup. (This was done prior to today's date but I can't remember the approximate time of year.)

They quoted me $3800 to install a part that is readily available for $510, and is likely free from the manufacturer - a full 50% more than my next highest quote. When I asked them for separate receipts for the 2 services they performed, they said they weren't able to do it. 7-11 can give me 2 receipts for 2 items, but this company cannot figure it out.

I was able to schedule my service for the same day. My technician was able to arrive 45 minutes earlier than my scheduled time, which worked out well for me. The service went smoothly. Without me needing to ask him, he immediately put on booties before entering my home, which I greatly appreciated. He was thorough, explained things to me, and was open to questions during the service. He was also pleasant to speak with.

I had an appointment for the next day after calling for an afternoon repair. I asked if the time could be moved up to a mornimg because I am a senior citizen with health issues and the air conditioner is important for my well being . The time was moved to a morning call and the repair man was here first thing in the morning . I was so grateful. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it and within hours it was working . The work man was quite kind !
