work was ok but communication was BAD, then no luck getting them back to do the little touchup work.

He tore up the floor. It was horrible. I ended up painting the kitchen myself. I could not afford to have anymore damage. I was told the job would take three days. It took four weeks. He would come in for an hour, if he would show up at all, and he would leave. When I shook his hand, it didn't have a callous on him. We woke up in the middle of the night, and trim work was falling off. The counter tops seemed crooked. From promptness, to cigarette butts in my kitchen, it was disgusting overall. I was ready to have a meltdown.

In May 201 our area in Southern Maryland was hit with a hail storm.  Many homes in the area were damaged and there were many
"Storm Chasers" in the neighborhood, looking for work. My neighbor personally knew a licence Contractor and planned to use him to do the work on his home. I met with the contractor and found him personable, and knowledgeable about construction as well as the insurance end of the project. So I hired him. The majority of the work was done well, but when the end was in sight he started wanting the final payment. My insurance company requires one of their own inspectors to inspect the house before they will release the last check. I gave him a punch list and he proceeded to do most of the items. So I gave him the final check.There are still a couple of things left from the punch list, but I have also found a few other things that need correcting.  An outdoor light and a leaking skylight.  I have called him repeatedly , most of the time his voice mail says it's full and hangs up on me, once in a while I can get the voice mail and leave a message, I actually have spoken to him a couple of times. Sometime he says he'll send someone over, but they never come. He even tried to fix the  light himself, but then came up with the excuse that it didn't work before the storm. (It did.) So he can't fix it.  He's yet to "send" anyone to check the leaking skylight, so I keep plastic down. I specifically ask him prior to starting the job if he could do the skylights. He assured me "he" could. I never saw him on the roof. I should have ask if his crew could do skylights, the answer should have been no!  I was happy to use a local hometown company for the work, but it has not been a good experiance.  My
neighbor is also still waiting for some work to be completed.
Kevin Beal talks a good talk, but it seems he isn't much at follow through, or finishing.  Once he gets the check he's gone.
