Maryland Tree Experts, Inc

After receiving a fair estimate from Nature's Work, we decided to hire them to clear several trees from the back of our property and to level and seed the newly cleared land. We discussed one other tree on the side of our home which hung over our roof, and appeared to be diseased. We agreed that the tree should come down, and that was added to the job. Since we were working during the day, the tree work was to be done while we were not home. I saw no problem with this, as the trees that were to come down had been identified beforehand. Well, when I pulled onto our street the day the work had been done, I immediately saw that a centerpiece of our property was gone: a beautiful, huge, 50+ year old oak tree that stood near the diseased tree next to our house and in the middle of a landscaped island had been cut down! I examined the stump of the tree and the stump of the diseased tree (which had also been cut down) in disbelief. When I told my husband what had happened he immediately called the Nature's Work rep we had worked with and the rep had the nerve to say that he had suspected the old oak tree was diseased and had done us a favor by cutting it down. Seriously?! We never asked or agreed to having the tree cut down and never would have. The stump showed no signs of disease. The rep did agree to come and grind the stumps and plant a new tree, but never followed up and began to ignore our calls. To make things worse, because of that tree being chopped down (and a forest conservation issue), one of our neighbors called the county and we were cited; we had to buy nearly $2,000 worth of new trees to plant on the property. I have continued to call Nature's Work but I was told the rep we worked with is no longer employed there and it seems they are not interested in making the situation right. I spoke with the owner of the company once, but he has not returned any of my subsequent calls. This is BAD business and clearly the owner and his former employee lack integrity. I strongly advise against hiring this company.
