Went Very Well!

We have used SS for several years now and were lured away by the lower prices of Thrifty.  Well after running out of propane several times last winter (see my Thrifty review) we switched back to a local company with real people who care about you and your business.  SS's prices are good but not the best but you are getting excellent service for that extra bit and on a cold January night you are glad you did!

Everything went perfect.  The installation had to be done in installments to get through the inspection processes and to coordinate with the work of the generator installer.  The Southern States crew arrived promptly as scheduled each time, and I was pleased with the professionalism of the crew and the quality of their work.  I can't site any negatives with my relationship with them.  I did not assign a rating to price because I didn't get any comparative bids.

I do not think that I will renew with them next year. I just assumed that they would come out, check the tank once a month, and then top it off with what I had pre-paid. Their prices are good. I pre-pay with them in advance, so that is not an issue. The last time I was just about on empty and you do not want to be in that situation. I have a propane stove, water heater, and both of our furnaces are propane. It was nerve racking and I felt like they had dropped the ball. Propane is a whole new thing for me. The driver is awesome, the people in the office acted like it was no big deal. The communication with them is poor.

This company was recommended to us by a friend and after meeting with the saleman, decided to switch from the company we were using to Southern States for our propane service. We purchased a new propane tank from them and they hooked it up to our equipment in a timely manner. Although we did have a few problems in the beginning with them, we were able to work things out. I would recommend that all costs and work be clearly presented in writing before any work is done. As far as responsiveness, before Hurricane Sandy approached, I called them to fill the tank and they came right out. Later in the summer, they also filled the tank before another bad storm approached without my even calling. That was appreciated.
