Phil did an excellent job. My only criticism is that he had said when we agreed on the price and I gave him a deposit that he would give me a week's notice before starting the job so I could arrange my schedule. He just showed up with out the notice (small issue and should not be held against him). I recommend him for good work and he is honest. He is quoting me another small job and I will use him again at some point.

  • I purchased a cord of wood for $240.00 and was promised delivery that they could not hold up.

Phil's Landscaping provided a short size of a full cord of wood that I purchased.
I asked for the pieces be less than 18" since I now use a wood stove with a smaller opening. Tiffany told me all the pieces were between 14 to 18 inches. I counted 70 pieces of wood that were more than 20" in length.
The cord of wood was at least 6 to 8" short in height and the two stacks added up to 36" in width.
When I spoke to Tiffany I was told someone would come out and cut the longer pieces. That was Monday and it is now Friday. At first Tiffany did not remember the cord being short but reminded her again on Friday to bring more wood.
Additionally I was told the wood was going to be all hardwood and found at least 20 pieces of wood that were pine.
Needless to say I am very disappointed at Phil's and will NEVER use them again.

I would just like to say that we are very easy to please and typically never complain about service but the job we had done by Phil?s Lawn Care was so bad I felt obligated to warn others.  We had several estimates to edge and mulch our yard and we went with Phil's because Phil was a very nice person and their estimate was much lower than others.  We felt good about going with a local and smaller company and meeting the ?face? of the company who seemed genuine.  Unfortunately, that first meeting to pick up his deposit was the last good thing about this contract.  We waited almost 2 months for our work to be done and had to call several times to find out where we were on their schedule before they finally came out to do the work.  When the crew showed up, they had no idea what they were supposed to do and we had to explain what we wanted done to our lawn.  Again, unfortunately for us we had to go out of town and they finished up on a Saturday when nobody was home.
We came home to find very thinly spread mulch and the edging was very poorly done.  We found clumps of edged grass just thrown into the flower beds, the edging was wavy and not done at all in some spots.  It literally looked like someone came out and threw some thin mulch into the existing beds and left.  We are not a family with a large disposable income so our entire purpose of hiring ?professional landscapers? was to have them do it this year and then we could ?touch it up? in the next couple of years.  Trust me, any homeowner could do the quality of work that they performed.  The coup de grace  was left in our driveway.  There were oil spots all over our driveway and without exaggeration it looked like someone parked the Exxon Valdez in various spots in our driveway.  They also drove this same vehicle all through our yard so we have yet to see how much grass they killed.  I am so disappointed and disheartened as I thought we were really doing a good thing by hiring a smaller local company and saving ourselves some money but it is now obvious to us that this company survives by underbidding the larger companies and doing shoddy work.
When I called Phil to complain I was told that 1) Our yard looked better than it did before, 2) he saw no issues and 3) there?s a big difference between commercial jobs and residential jobs.  At no time did he apologize for the shoddy job his men had performed.  The old adage is true that you get what you pay for?buyer beware!

Provider made certain guarantees regarding how soon after a snow he would plow; the type of equipment he would use and
the quality of removal he would accomplish. Although, provider assured us we were second on his list, he did not arrive to perform
removal until 9:30pm.. The removal was haphazard with no real thought given as to how best to remove and place the snow. More importantly, the asphalt driveway was damaged after a provider vehicle became stuck and then tried to spin his way out. The spinning removed several layers of the asphalt et al . Repair of the driveway has not been accomplished, to date, Provider was unwilling to work with us to achieve resolution and an open dispute remains.

They do an excellent job on the lawn. They are efficient, showed up on time and they’re fast though at times they can a little bit slow on things.

I share a "use in common" driveway with a neighbor that we do not get along.  Because of our dispute over the drivwway issues, it was determined to hire a contractor to plow the snowfall.  The driveway is over 300 feet long.  Phil's lawn service responded and offered his special (favorite 10) and guaranteed that we would be plowed before others and always be able to get out to work, as we were the first ten on the list.  We accepted this and signed the contract.  In December 2010 we had a heavy snow.  No sign of Phil's,  I called him and he answered from and informed me he had frozen feet (I guess from snowing the other top 10).  I reminded him of his contract obligations, and he faced legal actions for failure to abide by the contract.  At9:30pm, a truck did arrive, which was totally unfit to plow snow.  It was a stake body truck wiithout  four wheet drive, and the driver informed me that he had chains, but they broke several jobs before coming to our location.  Our driveway is over 300' long, and has two hills.  The driver did attempt to plow the driveway but failed, and got stuck several times.  He damaged the drieway by spinning wheels, leaving divits, and skid marks in the asphalt, which have yet to be repaired.

To add insult to injury,  Phil sent an email to my neighbor and accused me of being "psychotic, and he did not want to be around when I went off"  I never received a copy of that email, but Phil testified in court against me. when my neighbor took me to court for failure to plow the driveway, and Phil Thorn of Phil's Lawn care testified that I cursed him (untrue) and threaten him (true, legal action for failure to full fill the contract).  I have given this vendor a F rating, and would have given more if I could have.  BUYER BEWARE, this contractor is bad news, Shop around first and beware if you enter a contract with him.

First off, let me say that we are pretty easy people to please.  The service started out mediocre.  The first worker who showed up didn't really know what he was supposed to be doing despite our having given very detailed instructions a few days prior to owner.  They did a reasonably good job with the weeding and the trimming and there was a lot of it.  Unfortunately, that's where the good job ended.  We had a lot of mulching which they admitted they underestimated the cost of that right off the bat.  As such, they didn't mulch the entire garden area -- they left out the parts they figured we wouldn't see. They also left clumps of mulch on our lawn, killing the grass.  Some of the mulch was left in small piles - they didn't bother to rake it.   The edging and tree ring lines were jagged and lopsided.   The cut-outs they did for a line of bushes in our backyard were noticeably crooked -- what was supposed to be a square cut out ended up looking wavy.  The owner argued with us on this point and came back to straighten it out to some degree but it still is obviously lopsided.  And for the piece de resistance: we have a culvert at the edge of our property line in the backyard surrounded by a small cluster of trees.  Phil's workers took all the grass clumps they dug up from around our yard and dumped it in piles back in this culvert where they figured we would not see.  What's more, they dumped it right where the water drains so when it torrentially down poured the next day, it flooded our backyard and there was sediment, gravel and other debris all over the lawn.   I did call Phil directly who stated it was an "embarrassment to the company" and he'd get out there within the week to clean it up.  2+ weeks later, I called him back indicating nobody had come to clean it up.  Maybe a week after that, someone finally came.  They drove their trucks onto my lawn and my neighbors lawn to make it more convenient for cleaning up.  Cleanup was hasty at best and I barely noticed a difference.  When I asked Phil about this, he said his workers didn't see really anything to clean up.  Honestly, I was so tired of dealing with this and I didn't call them back and they never bothered to follow up with me.

Phil's crew was initially delayed due to bad weather.  As soon as it cleared, they came early, announced their arrival and immediatly went to work.  They politely responded to any questions and immediatly implemented all of my requested modifications to the areas being mulched.  All the designated areas were neatly edged and extreme care was taken in mulching around plants and shrubs.  They did not take a break, not even for lunch, until the job was completed.  Needless to say, I was completely satisfied with the results.

The company responded promptly to my request for an estimate. Once I signed the contract with them, the work was completed in a very timely manner and to my complete satisfaction.
