- I purchased a cord of wood for $240.00 and was promised delivery that they could not hold up.
Phil's Landscaping provided a short size of a full cord of wood that I purchased.
I asked for the pieces be less than 18" since I now use a wood stove with a smaller opening. Tiffany told me all the pieces were between 14 to 18 inches. I counted 70 pieces of wood that were more than 20" in length.
The cord of wood was at least 6 to 8" short in height and the two stacks added up to 36" in width.
When I spoke to Tiffany I was told someone would come out and cut the longer pieces. That was Monday and it is now Friday. At first Tiffany did not remember the cord being short but reminded her again on Friday to bring more wood.
Additionally I was told the wood was going to be all hardwood and found at least 20 pieces of wood that were pine.
Needless to say I am very disappointed at Phil's and will NEVER use them again.
We came home to find very thinly spread mulch and the edging was very poorly done. We found clumps of edged grass just thrown into the flower beds, the edging was wavy and not done at all in some spots. It literally looked like someone came out and threw some thin mulch into the existing beds and left. We are not a family with a large disposable income so our entire purpose of hiring ?professional landscapers? was to have them do it this year and then we could ?touch it up? in the next couple of years. Trust me, any homeowner could do the quality of work that they performed. The coup de grace was left in our driveway. There were oil spots all over our driveway and without exaggeration it looked like someone parked the Exxon Valdez in various spots in our driveway. They also drove this same vehicle all through our yard so we have yet to see how much grass they killed. I am so disappointed and disheartened as I thought we were really doing a good thing by hiring a smaller local company and saving ourselves some money but it is now obvious to us that this company survives by underbidding the larger companies and doing shoddy work.
When I called Phil to complain I was told that 1) Our yard looked better than it did before, 2) he saw no issues and 3) there?s a big difference between commercial jobs and residential jobs. At no time did he apologize for the shoddy job his men had performed. The old adage is true that you get what you pay for?buyer beware!
the quality of removal he would accomplish. Although, provider assured us we were second on his list, he did not arrive to perform
removal until 9:30pm.. The removal was haphazard with no real thought given as to how best to remove and place the snow. More importantly, the asphalt driveway was damaged after a provider vehicle became stuck and then tried to spin his way out. The spinning removed several layers of the asphalt et al . Repair of the driveway has not been accomplished, to date, Provider was unwilling to work with us to achieve resolution and an open dispute remains.
To add insult to injury, Phil sent an email to my neighbor and accused me of being "psychotic, and he did not want to be around when I went off" I never received a copy of that email, but Phil testified in court against me. when my neighbor took me to court for failure to plow the driveway, and Phil Thorn of Phil's Lawn care testified that I cursed him (untrue) and threaten him (true, legal action for failure to full fill the contract). I have given this vendor a F rating, and would have given more if I could have. BUYER BEWARE, this contractor is bad news, Shop around first and beware if you enter a contract with him.
