Chris's name had been given to us by a family friend who has business connections in Westminster. He returned our call promptly and visited as arranged to take a look at the small jobs we needed tackling. He scheduled to return to do the jobs within the same week which I thought was great. Chris arrived on time, refused the offer of tea or coffee and got right to work on reading the installation booklet that accompanied the microwave. While he did this, I emptied the overhead cupboard of spices and herbs. He then pulled out the range and measured up for the placement of the bracket and locations for screw holes. I took a phone call from my parents in England and by the time I had finished, I returned to the kitchen to find that the microwave was in and he had made a start on the second job. He did some measuring up and moved the electrical socket to it's new location. He made a couple of trips to his van to get different tools, making sure that he wiped his feet before coming back into the house. It had snowed. I appreciate a tradesman that respects your home. He drilled a few holes and, in what seemed like no time at all, the range was plugged in, up against the wall and ready to go. Chris then tidied up, putting all the rubbish in his own contained and vacuumed up with his own cleaner. I then showed him the broken light in the closet. He went to get his ladder from the van, but I offered him the use of ours, as it was already inside. I left him to fix the light while I came downstairs. In no time at all he was in the kitchen with me, cleaning off the light shade before he replaced it. I was very impressed with how concerned he was about leaving the job all clean and tidy. I had my cheque book out to pay him but he said he would send me an invoice for the work. I asked for a rough estimate (he was in my home for around an hour and 20 minutes) and he said about $100 to $120, which I thought was reasonable. When the invoice arrived it was less than he had quoted, so my husband was very pleased indeed. I will definitely ask him back should we need any other electrical work done.
