Barbara Clements Doll Patch

We learned about Barb Clements from another antiques/doll collector show in February.   I have a c. 1920's porcelain doll that belonged to my mother. The doll was in bad shape: one hand was missing and the other hand was badly deteriorated.  The doll's eyes would not stay open and didn't always close either!  We took the doll to the Frizzelburg Antiques Shoppe in Carroll Co., MD, just north of Westminster, MD, where Barb Clements made an appraisal of the necessary repairs. She estimated the cost to be between $50 and $100, which was very reasonable considering the value of my Armand Marseilles doll AND the fact that she did not know if she could match the doll baby's hands - nor did she know what the condition of the doll's eyes would be once she'd gotten inside of the porcelain head.  It took approx. one month before 'Baby Elizabeth' was ready to come home with us.  The entire cost was only $65.00, and the little doll looks as beautiful as it must have looked in 1923 when it was given to my mother.  I can now safely display our doll in her antique buggy and hope to be able to pass it on to one of our daughters or their children.
