Overall, I'm very happy with the roof and project. Looks great and it appears that the quality will hold up for many years to come. The few minor issues that we ran into were resolved and saw through to the end. First off, Tyler was awesome when it came to providing an estimate. I had over 10+ estimates, and Tyler is the main reason I went with Arocon. Tyler was one of the few roofers to give an estimate after getting on my roof. It was definitely an estimate that I could trust when it came to accurate measurements and difficulties about our specific job. He provided a wide range of options and didn't pressure me to make a decision that day or at any time in the future. Other roofers felt the need to call incessantly to see if I made a decision, and I got to the point that I appreciated not hearing from Arocon. The estimate breaks down every step of the process and provides itemized costs for each option and job. Out of the 10+ roofers I had out for estimates, Arocon's price was close to the cheapest in price for similar high-quality materials, but out of all, I felt they provided the best breakdown of the job, costs, and options. I was told that the entire job could probably be completed in one day, maybe two. I had my scheduled date of Thursday 11/17, but rain a few days prior to my scheduled date, required us to reschedule due to their work being pushed back. I was originally told that my rescheduled date would be on that Saturday, but then later told they don't do work on Saturdays. The job was then pushed back to Monday. I wouldn't normally care about the date being pushed back, but my homeowner's insurance cancelled my coverage due to old roof condition, so these were just extra days that I was gambling without insurance coverage. I realize some of this was out of Arocon's control. The job ended up taking two days for the roof and an additional day for the gutter crew to come out. It would be nice if Arocon would give notification in the mornings that they are coming or not, especially during questionable weather like we were having. I was finding a large number of nails and screws on our property weeks after the project completion. Arocon was more than willing to come back and do another sweep of project related materials. I appreciate that they were concerned about our safety and cleanliness of our property. We ran into an issue with a delivered package going missing during the time that our roof was being worked on. It's still somewhat of a mystery of what happened to the package, but Arocon saw that we were satisfied by compensating us for the missing goods. It's obvious that they truly care about their customers and want the reputation for doing so. In summary, Arocon's roof work is top-notch and Tyler is the man. Also, they take the extra steps necessary to make sure that the customer is satisfied.

Wow, what an awesome job, if you are looking for a roofer to do a slate work they are the best. They are thorough, have great customer service, took pics of the work needed done, and took pics of the work done. They even came back to make sure the work was done properly and everything was great. Their quote was by far the most reasonable out of the 3 quotes that I received.

It was fine, although a tad expensive for the amount of work involved.

From the beginning, I knew Arocon was going to be different. I was on my 3rd estimate for a recurring leakage problem with a rental row home in Baltimore. Consultant Chet Haifley arrived promptly (early even) for the initial estimate and spent a significant amount of time asking questions about my experiences, exploring the roof and all of it?s various issues, and listening to what my specific financial situation was. He then sat on the rooftop deck for about 20 minutes, and worked up an initial estimate right on the spot, explaining that his ?actual? estimate was going to be extremely detailed but that he wanted to ensure I understood exactly what really needed to be done and why before he left. I have contractors in my family but no personal experience with roofing and I appreciated that he took the time to listen and ask questions, as well as give me multiple scenarios for repair/replacement. In the end, I selected replacement of the tin roof. After our meeting, in the timeframe estimate, Chet provided an incredibly detailed description of what the job would entail. He took the time to review each line item I had questions with and addressed my questions and concerns in a professional manner. I received 5 additional estimates for this job in the end, due to really bad experiences with other roofers and Arocon was not only competitively priced compared to some of the larger roofing firms Baltimore but gave me my best price. And I was not price-shopping so much as quality-shopping. Of the 5 other companies, I only received 2 written proposals and 1 verbal and 2 that just never gave me any estimate. I found Arocon to be the best overall in detail and value. Once I agreed to the job and put down a deposit (1/3), I also interacted with Mike Neubauer to finalize details for the job. He was also extremely professional. The day of the job, the crew arrived early and immediately got to work by 7:15am. The crew was really terrific and attentive to detail. They had a difficult area to work, with a row house in the middle of a busy city street and yet made sure to protect my property, adjacent property and even cleaned dust off cars parked nearby while cleaning up. The job lasted from approximately 7:15 am to 7:15 pm. Clean up was an ongoing project, with constant attention to getting nails, debris and other roof related things off the sidewalk and into the truck. They did not rush their work but worked efficiently all day. The only minor issues I could come up with was that (1) somewhere in the instructions to the crew, it was either missed or overlooked that I had requested the HVAC systems be tarped and covered inside my attic and outside. I had a split system that had just been cleaned and was concerned. When I stopped by the next day to evaluate the job with my renter, I realized they failed to tarp inside the attic and all was covered by debris. I contacted Arocon who immediately leaped into action to secure a cleaning crew to clean out the attic and to hire at my request, a HVAC contractor to come clean the unit and ensure there was no damage or dust/debris in the system. This happened on a weekend calling for snow and they made sure to get a guy there immediately to solve the problem. The only other issue I can think of was my fault?not theirs. (2) I sadly FORGOT to mention the Angies List 10% off so I missed out on the ability to get the additional discount. Hopefully they will extend me a break because of that when I hire them again in the spring to work on my rooftop deck and chimney! Chet came back a few days after the cleaning of the attic for a final check to ensure everything was done properly. The roof looks so great compared to the rusted tin roof. I thought the job was ultimately fantastic and I?m certain I just raised the value of my city home. I was impressed with the quality and appearance of the finished product. I highly recommend Chet and Arocon for your roofing needs. Though I haven't had experience with them for other general construction, I expect they would perform in a similar fashion therefore if you are considering--do get the estimate. I personally plan to use them for future work and have already recommended them to others. Do get some other estimates, but I?m certain the price, quality and experience will make it a no-brainer decision in favor of Arocon.

Overall, things went very well. I recommend you choose AROCON for your roofing needs -- get some other estimates, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better balance between quality AND price. AROCON was my third estimate of three, and came as a great relief after my first two experiences. I'm convinced AROCON gave me the best value for my roof replacement. Using Angie's List, I contacted 3 "A-rated" companies for estimates for my roof, which had been put on around 1991 with building-grade shingles and now needed replacing. The only thing the 3 companies agreed upon was that my roof was shot and needed replacing. Admittedly, because my Cape Cod style house has two additions, it's a long house (2700 sq. ft.?) with many roof lines, so I was braced for the worst, even as I spoke with some coworkers about the price of their recent roof replacements. I got my 3 estimates all in one week. Company #1's representative was slick: he gave a very thorough and professional presentation, described their great materials and procedures, then quoted me an astonomically high price. I was depressed. Company #2 was a small family business. Without any specifics on the job description (such as what brand shingles, what types of guarantees, etc.), they quoted me a "back of the envelope" price that was $4,000 less than Company #1. Still higher than I expected, and rather vague. I live in a modest-sized house on a relatively modest block in an admittedly affluent neighborhood. My neighbors spend a lot of time and money keeping their houses looking great on the outside. I was beginning to think I was being charged a "tax" because of my well-heeled neighbors. After the first two estimates, frankly I was wary as Chet Haifley went through his presentation. Chet gave a very thorough and professional presentation, described AROCON's materials and procedures in detail, explained that AROCON is a certified GAF contractor (I used his detailed printout to describe above the work they performed.). When he finished, I braced myself for the bad news -- then he quoted me a price that was 60% less than Company #1!! Whoa! The final price (noted above) ended up being even less, because I used a 10% off coupon that AROCON had offered to Angie's List customers. There were a few hicccups, but these had nothing to do with AROCON -- just factors out of their control. The manufacturer misdelivered the materials to a house up the street, so work was a bit delayed the first day. Weather delayed the roof from being done all in one day. However, the crew did a thorough, terrific job, including with the clean-up. The skylight replacements were trickier than expected, because they were a custom size. Dave, AROCON's co-owner, came out and worked on the skylights himself, over a few visits. He built out new curbs, so it'll be a lot easier for AROCON to replace the skylights sometime in the future. Chet contacted me throughout every step of the process, and I believe that level of attention reflects why AROCON has rated so well. My advice, regardless of who you select to do your roof: make sure to get an estimate from AROCON before you make your final decision. One final tip: make sure you check those "Report Histograms" that Angie's Lists posts right above the grades. You'll see that not all "A-rated" companies are equal. Some -- like AROCON -- have a longer track record for A ratings than do other companies.

I did a line by line comparison of the proposals I received and found Arocon to be the best overall value based on price and materials. The day of the job, the crew arrived on time and immediately got to work. These guys rocked! The job lasted from approximately 7:15 am to 2:15 pm. They did a great job of protecting my landscaping, which escaped damage from all the heavy slate that was removed. Clean up was great as well - they did not rush this part of the job. A supervisor did a check on the completed work and Chet came back a few days later for a final check to ensure everything was done properly. The roof looks fantastic! I'm pretty picky and was impressed with the quality of the finished product. I highly recommend Chet and Arocon. I plan to use them for future work. My roof was sorely in need of fixing. I had several shingles that were either missing or damaged. Recently (over last 6months-1yr, I would guess), during certain rainstorms, water would begin leaking in through the upstairs bathroom and even more surprisingly between my front door and security door. After putting it off, I finally decided to call someone out to tell me what I would need to resolve this issue. Thankfully, the company I called 1st was Arocon Roofing & Construction! I found them, via Angie's list and based on the stellar reviews AND reasonable prices, I thought they would be perfect for this job. Their sales representative, Matt, was very helpful. When I called explaining what I needed, he was able to come over that same day to give me a free estimate. When Matt arrive he was very detailed in his inspection of the roof and what I needed done. He made several suggestions, which were helpful in making up my mind as to what I felt would be BEST in the long term for the house and my peace of mind. After this initial meeting, I would communicate with Arocon via phone and/or email, which made things progress that much smoother and easier. Their proposal was sent to me, via email, and I agreed to it approx. 2 days later. I had a certain timeframe I wanted the work done and they were able to setup my preferred date without much of a hassle. After the down payment was made, I just waited for the appointed date. On that day, 2 Arocon roofers arrived promptly @8:50am. I went over some last minute details and then just got out of the way, and let them begin working. By 12:30pm, a little over 3 1/2 hours after they had begun, the job was completed! When I inspected the job done, I was amazed! My brand new roof was looking NICE! They had laid a tarp over my lawn, before beginning, and afterwards my lawn looked none the worse for wear. I was very pleased with the worked done and thanks the two gentlemen who made it possible. I will definitely be calling Arocon back for FUTURE home projects. This job was an A+, in my book!

Salesperson/estimator was great--we even went with them even though the estimate was slightly higher than another because we had a great impression from the start. The work was delayed a few times due to rain/previous customers, and we were notified each time but once. Called the number on the sign they'd placed in the yard and received a snippy "How'd you get this number?" Some additional rudeness ensued, but the original salesperson called back to apologize and the rest of the experience was great. The work was all done on one day in about seven hours, and they did a superb job cleaning up (even raked our leaves in the process).

This company is wonderful! Every step of the way they were professional, organized, responsive and attentive. Eric, one of the owners, gave me an estimate (one of four that I received), and he was completely professional and up front about the roofing job, what would be involved in the work, and what Arocon's follow-up procedures would be. The rainy weather hampered the job happening on the first scheduled day and Mike was very prompt in letting me know that they would reschedule. They arrived on time and were careful not to damage plants, outdoor furniture etc.... The cost also included wrapping the fascia and rake boards as well as the dormer window verticals and even the crown molding. They cleaned up beautifully. You would never know that a roofing job had taken place if you hadn't seen them working. Everything was first class. I highly recommend them for roofing needs.

Dave is professional and courteous to deal with on the phone. The crew he dispatched was respectful, efficient, and did not complain, even though it was 3:30 am and it was lightly raining. They saved our house from further damage.

The back bedroom and the master bath was leaking, and I had seen 3 or 4 different companies who all "repaired" the leak. After the hurricane the problem was worse than ever and I called several different companies for service. Arocon was one of the first to respond, with the best price and the most puntual service. As it turns out all the prior repairs involved was applying a whole lot of tar, haphazardly along my existing roof and it was a mess. They gave me photographs. So now the Arocon roof is installed. The guys came out and did it on Saturday morning. It took no more than 2 hrs, my yard was left in pristine condition and the gentlemen were very considerate. The roof is under warranty, and we haven't had another really bad rain yet--but so far I'm really pleased with my experience and will definately use their services again.

This company is simply fantastic and we can recommend AROCON with confidence. Every person I had to deal with at AROCON (Dave, Mike, Chris, Eric) was professional, reliable, and responsive. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and their quotes/estimates are detailed and easy to understand. The nice part about dealing with AROCON before you pick them is that they were willing to provide us with several options to consider before we had to commit to doing any work. If you join Angie's List to just make sure you don't hire the wrong company to do what you need to get done, look no further, AROCON is a solid choice where the one you choose is so important. But If you want more of the story about why these guys are good, keep reading, and then call them. When you own a typical City row home, any home improvement or repair is an adventure, and not always a fun one. Ours was no exception. It all started, like it often does in 100 year homes, with a roof leak. The leak started at the top, and the damage reached the bottom. AROCON came out and took the time to accurately assess not only where the leak was (rather, leaks were) but also what was causing them. They replaced the leaky roof, and re-directed the rain water so that we don't have the same issues down the road. AROCON works quickly and with the minimal amount of disruption. We had MAJOR work done and they always left the place tidy between visits. They help you decide what to have done then does it the way it is supposed to be done. Very satisfied with our experience with AROCON. I will definitely be using them again, probably sooner than later.

The gentleman that came was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and competent. He went through the whole thing and told me the pluses and minuses. I am about to sell my house so I am waiting to decide whether to do the work now or wait until the negotiating phase. He had a lot of good advice. He gave me the quote right away; he went to his car, banged out the numbers, and then came back in.

They seemed very professional and gave me a printout the same day. They did a pretty thorough inspection of the roof. I had a friend that just had a roof done by Arocon and they seemed to be very pleased.

My roof was leaking and creating a hole in my ceiling over the stairs - a mess! I had contacted several roofers and of those that responded at all, Arocon was the only company that provided a detailed, written estimate. Their price was similar or less than the other verbal estimates I had been given. They contacted me the same day I contacted them by email, as I requested, and two days later the estimator came to my house. He was professional, courteous, and personable. He explained everything very clearly, answered all my questions, and gave me a detailed, written estimate. Two days later the roofing crew installed the new roof, and their clean-up was stellar. Two days after that, the estimator returned to check on the work, and he then emailed me pictures of the roof. The Arocon rep also contacted me to make sure I was happy with the results. I was - the roof stopped leaking and the photos displayed a very nice job. I would highly recommend this company and have - my nephew used them a short time ago and was equally happy with their work.

Called Arocon last and was not sure they would respond prior to me needing to make a decision as all other companies took a bit but Arocon returned my call the same day and set an appointment to come out on the same day as another company. The day of the appointment they were here on time and inspected the roof both from the attic and from the roof. Of the three companies contacted they were the only one to actually go onto the roof to get a good look at what was needed. The estimate was a bit below others but the selling point for me was the knowlege of my roof and his estimate of what was needed. The day before the work was to be done the materials were delivered in the evening. The work crew was due to be on site at 8 am and actually showed up early. They immediately began working and covered all areas around the house where debri may fall. They worked throughout the day with the exception of a short lunch break and completed the job around 4pm. I was home throughout the day and watched the work. The work was completed and the site cleaned up. The roof looks great. All of the people involved with this work were polite and professional. It was a pleasure to deal with them and would highly recommend them to others.

From beginning to end, this company was 100% professional. Very impressive. After the damage done to our roof during and soon after the February 2010 snow storms, we began looking for a roofer. We'd gotten several estimates, ranging from ridulously low to absurdly high. But this company provided an affordable estimate, and followed through in every way. We'd use them again in a heartbeat

Arocon did a really great job. They communicated well and met all the expectations that they set for me as well. They also cleaned up great, there were no complications. I would recommend them, they did a great job. I might be using them again very soon.

They were definitely good. I spent probably around $480 on that service. I would tell others that they showed up on time, did the job completely and there were no problems.

Eric, one of the co-owners, came out to inspect our roof/attic and give us a quote. He was extremely amiable and polite, and in comparison to at least one of the other companies that came out, he was very knowledgeable regarding our problems and potential solutions. Arocon's price was comparable to another small company (but the representative was not as impressive as Eric), and moderately less pricey than a very large-sized competitor. The job was well-done. The workers stayed on the roof past dark, minimizing the number of days of disruption to our home. I especially like that Arocon's workers are company employees, not contractual (you can see their faces on their website). The cleanup afterward was fine. Eric remained immediately accessible (via his cell phone) before and throughout the job, as little questions came up. I have recommended Arocon to friends, and will consider them for future needs (e.g., general building/repairs).

It went wonderfully!! Especially considering that they started in inclement weather which seemed to drag on and on. Everyone from the owner to all his assistants worked harder than any home improvement company we've dealt with. Their manner was professional and friendly at the same time. In addition to possessing the knowledge of how projects should be done "to code", they also possess a great sense of design. We feel we got a lot for our money and wouldn't hesitate to utilize their services in the future.
