AROCON Roofing & Construction

We had to reschedule due to inclement weather, but that was completely understandable. The gentleman that came to inspect our roof was very nice. Unfortunately, we did not qualify for the deal due to the pitch of our roof. The only complaint I would have is they said that if we wanted to use them for the work they would have to come back out to give an estimate instead of giving us an estimate based off the first visit.

All was done on the days scheduled and with minimum impact on us. I was impressed by their efforts to take care of everything that I asked about.

Mike was the gentleman that came to inspect the house. He was very nice and polite. He explained the different scenarios in which we could do the insulation in the attic area. He also took his time to listen to different ideas that I had in mind for our house and landscaping. We decided to get a quote for an attic fan but have not gone forward with the installation of an attic fan at this time. Price I have given a "C" because I have received other quotes and this one is a tad bit higher. But when you think about the company and what they do, they seem to be a reputable company so if you have the money, I would go with them. I have selected N/A for quality since we can't judge their work yet.

Made the appointment for 20 December, in the afternoon. The representative showed up on time, and was very personable. Asked if I had any concerns, and since I was only concerned about the attic (and lack of insulation), that's all that he looked at. And look was all he did - no ventilation tests, no talks about rebates involved, no energy saving tips, nothing. The visit concluded with him measuring the attic space. Approximately one week after that, I got a call from the company, asking if I was interested in pursuing the work we had talked about. I informed the person that I had not yet received a quote, and they seemed a bit surprised at that. They said they would be in touch soon. And that is the last I have ever heard from them. It is now 26 January. In the meantime, I have been dealing with other companies, getting quotes for insulation and other energy saving projects, and have received quotes and detailed ACTUAL analysis on my attic and the ventilation in the house. In short, I have no idea what they are supposed to give me. At this point, it is irrelevant; I have dealt with other, better companies, received valid quotes, had the whole rebate deal explained to me for insulation, had ventilation tests done, etc. I am sure that this is not how they usually run their business, but considering I just dropped through the cracks, I feel that they do have a problem when keeping track of details. That is something that makes me uneasy, and even if they provide a quote, I do not believe I would contract with them. To sum up - with what I have seen, I paid $49 for a quote for attic insulation. I believe quotes of that nature should be free, and will be pursuing efforts to get my $49 back.

They were very prompt for the appointment and they scheduled the appointment immediately with me. Everything went perfectly. One technician came out to do the work, it only too him a half an hour to inspect the attic. He gave us his opinion about the inspection and gave me a report to refer to for future reference.

Great experience! professional and punctual every step of the way. i live in a new home and wanted to check that the builder did a proper job of insulating the attic space and the attic was free of leaks and dry. technician arrived, went to work and provided a full report. the report stated attic was 100% sound.

They did a good job as far as I can tell, they we're certainly punctual, cleaned up and they get it all done very quickly. I got them through Home Advisers but they are reviewed on Angie's List, I checked them out before and they were highly rated. They were the lowest of the four companies that we interviewed. It went good, they were very professional, and they had the lowest bid. I had a coupon from Angie's List that resulted in a 10% discount. Their presentation and sales pitch was very professional. They were excellent, responsive, quick and it went well.

Everything went well, no complaints at all. We were not home during the process but when we returned home from work that evening everything was as we left it, plus a new roof. It looks excellent and we have no complaints. Everyone we spoke with during the process was extremely friendly as well. We would definitely recommend them. We also had several other estimates from different companies and Arocon came in significantly lower than all others. A great value!

Had to reschedule a few times because it kept snowing on my scheduled day. But finally had the crew on a cold but clear day. They got it all done in one day, even cleaned up before they left, good work!

Arocon's Big Deal promised "Attic Inspection, Plus an Insulation and Ventilation Analysis." I bought this deal thinking they would do a comprehensive home analysis of attic/insulation/ventilation and provide some sort of report on the same for future planning. What I instead got from them was an estimate on how much it would cost to re-do the insulation in my attic. In other words, I paid $49 (claimed actual value $279) for a work estimate--something that most companies provide for free.

As above, provider requested that we change the appt. from 12:30 to2:30 several days ago. I agreed. By 3pm, he had not come and not called. I called their office only to be told that he had just told them that he didn't make the appt. No reason given.

They came out quickly to give me an estimate and were very responsive in getting me scheduled. I was nervous about having the roof repaired, because it's an historic house with a weathered cedar roof, and I didn't want the repairs to look "patchy." It looks great! The roofer showed me a picture on his phone that he took of the completed work. They replaced the whole ridge line of shingles, and it blends in nicely with the rest of the roof. Everyone I dealt with was courteous and responsive.

We have a rather complicated roof line, due to a complicated addition, but the crew did a beautiful job of handling the complex job and all the details that went with it. I got estimates from four different companies: Arocon's estimator was the first to arrive (we had to wait 1 - 2 weeks for other estimators), and he offered the best price. (Actually, it came out to the best price with the 10 percent Angie's list discount that they were offering when we got our bid. Don't forget to ask about it: I had to ask, but once I did they offered it without a problem and that brought the price down by $500.) The roofing shingles they offered were also of a higher quality than the ones offered by the other roofers. (We looked up the various specs on-line, and realized the quality difference right away.) The estimator showed me a short Power Point presentation about the way they work, and they offer several features that other companies don't seem to do. They are very dedicated to working around plants and plantings, and as I am an avid gardener that was very important to me. They are also very concerned about clean-up, as shingles and old nails come flying off the roof and need to be picked up and collected meticulously. The workmen all spoke English and were the nicest crew to be around. It was a freezing day when they came, and they were going to skip lunch because it was going to get dark early and they wanted to finish on time. When I bought them all coffee and lunch from McDonald's they were thrilled beyond words. It was such a simple thing, but it made them so happy! Arocon followed up even after the workmen left: they called to see if everything was done right and if I was satisfied. I had a couple of small follow-up concerns and a crew was dispatched within a couple of days to do the minor cleanup that remained. I then got further calls to see if that work was satisfactory! I have never had so much customer service concern, and all of it was sincere and authentic. I can't recommend this company enough! They do construction work as well as roofs, and I do plan to use them again in the future.

They came and removed 3 layers of old roofing. They repaired old damaged wood off of back porch roof and reattached my gutters. Then replaced roof. I am very pleased with the quality of work that was performed and the time it took them to do it....in one day! They also repaired some very damaged stucco on the front of my house, in which, I am also very pleased with. I feel that they went far and beyond what the job called for to make it right. I will be using them again in the spring to paint my out side of my house, can't wait! Thank you guys for turning my old run down house into something nice again. Merry Christmas!

They replaced around twenty five broken tiles on my slate roof and enclosed my soffit and fascia. They were very prompt and professional.

The salesman was professional. The installation guys came in and did the job right, and timely.

One of the colors we chose wasn't available a month later closer to install which postponed the project by another month. Really the delay was not a problem for us, but it was a long time from contract signing to complete sign-off on finished work. Quality of workmanship seemed excellent. Ran into two problems--facing near door blocked ease of opening, and when repaired, had loose nails. Also one window wouldn't open out, again blocked by new product. It took about 1 more month to get this things resolved, but it was resolved to our complete satisfaction.. Seemed, though, to have a bit of a communication problem as finance person kept wanting the complete bill to be paid prior to the work being finished. Again, fully resolved. The house, with the new colors, working gutters, ,just beautiful as well as being functional. We are very pleased!!

In late July or early August 2013, I called and made an appointment for someone to come inspect the roof and prepare a bid. Chris came and was great. He was on time to the minute. He climbed up on the roof, took photos, and carefully explained the scope of the work he recommended. Since the price was better than the other credible bid, I accepted the contract. He did mention that they could not guarantee the work because roof leaks can be very hard to find. We scheduled for about the 3rd week of August. A two man crew showed up on the day they said, did the work, said it was done and that should take care of it. The leader showed me a photo of the leak he repaired. On October 9-10, we had the first heavy rain since the repair. On the 10th, my wife called me to look at the bedroom wall. It was leaking--more heavily than it had before. I called the company. A pleasant female voice answered and confirmed that the work had been done in August. Then she said the man who had done the rpeair would be here around 9 AM on 10/11. The weather continued to be bad, with very heavy rain sometimes. At 9:26 AM, having heard nothing, I called Arocon. Erica answered. She checked and said the employee was scheduled to be here, and said he was in Baltimore. She said, "Let me give him a call... and I'll call you back, OK?" I said fine. Ten minutes later Nancy called and said because of the rain the man couldn't get on the roof. It was a safety issue. "When it slacks off," he will come, perhaps later that day, but on Saturday for sure, since the rain was supposed to end overnight. On Saturday, 10/12, at around 2 PM the man arrived, found the leak & fixed it. He showed me a photo. I showed him the new damage to my bedroom ceiling and wall and asked if Arocon would fix it. He said sure they could fix it. I asked if I would have to pay. He said he would contact his boss, and someone would be in touch. On 10/17 at about 3 PM I called and got Kimberly at an answering service. I remarked that it seemed odd. She replied that perhaps "they had gone out." I said, "That makes little sense. They have a receptionist." So I left my name, number, address and a request for a return call. On 10/21 at 12:45 PM Kelly called. I repeated the story. She put me on hold, came back and said a project manager would have to look into it, review the pictures, contact the work crew, etc. On 10/22 Kelly called back at 5:55 PM. She observed the wall was damaged in August when they first came out. I said yes, it was. And now, after the recent rains, it was about twice as bad, too much now for me to be comfortable trying to repair it. She said they would send Chris back to inspect on 10/31/13 at 11 AM. On 10/31 Chris came--on time--and looked at the wall, took some pictures, and would not say one way or the other if Arocon would pay for it, that they would have to check with the crew, etc. The next day I got a call saying Adam could come the next Tuesday to inspect the wall. I told the woman Chris had come the day before. She did not know that. The short version was Adam was coming on 11/5 at 4 PM. On 11/4 at 4 PM Adam showed up to the minute. He said he was here to resolve a leak in the roof, that another crew had been here over two weeks before, and that it appeared to be fixed. (It had rained in the meantime.) I expressed frustration at the lack of communication within the company. He said he was frustrated, too. so I repeated the whole story. Then he inspected the bedroom wall, took photos, called his supervisor, and reported that someone from Arocon would come to repair the wall and ceiling. I then asked if he would be willing to give me a bid on two other jobs (interior painting and repairing cedar shingle siding). He said sure, took measurements, and said it would take a few days to get prices and eh's get back to me. He, like Chris, left me his card. on 11/11 Kelly called to set up the wall/ceiling repair for 11/18. She told me Adam would come back by to take a measurement he had missed the week before. On 11/18, a man came on time and repaired the wall and ceiling. The roof repair is working like a charm, and the wall looks great. I have not heard anything further from the company, nor have I pursued the bid since then. I'd still be willing to receive it, and, if the price is right, offer the contract. Good company, but you have to be patient if things don't go quite right.

The company was easy to get in touch with for a quote, (they were the lower of two bids) but a little harder to get requirements set. The fact that it was around the holidays was partly to blame, and they did apologize.They got the job done quickly and left no mess. It looks great

Larry Bullen came out to provide an estimate for replacement gutters. Larry was on time, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. We would have hired Arocon based solely on our experience with Larry, if it weren't for the other negative reviews left on Angies List.

The gentleman who came and measured for an estimate was friendly, professional, and seemed very honest. He arrived as expected. Chris asked if we wanted him to haul away our old copper gutters. I replied, "sure, if you'll pay me for them." He declined and I told him that I would scrap them. I received an estimate by email in a timely manner. My husband wanted to meet with Chris and discuss some details of the job, in particular, we wanted to discuss why someone cutting plywood for fascia is billed at the highly skilled worker rate of $65/hr, and if we could lower the cost by removing the old gutters ourselves. This way we also reduce the risk of them removing it for us. Chris said he would have to speak with his boss. He phoned his boss, and relayed that his boss said it would NOT reduce the cost because they planned to keep our old copper gutter, contrary to the previous discussion. So, they planned to keep my copper gutter, bill me for hauling them away, and simply not allow me to keep my own gutter. According to the guy who came out, was worth about $4k and could nearly pay for the job. Chris was simply the messenger for his boss. Needless to say we will not use this company.

I purchased the $60 Pipe Collar and Roof Inspection deal. When the person from Arocon arrived, he said that the roof was too steep for him to climb up there. My roof is a pretty standard-looking roof, but apparently too steep for someone to climb up there by him/herself.

Everything went well. They were very responsive, did quality work, and charged a rate comparable to other companies. They also returned to fix a gutter issue without hesitation which I appreciated.
