The service was great! We have used Kastner previously and found them to be responsive, prompt, and honest. This job was no exception. Mike arrived on time, was very professional and pleasant to work with. He removed the leaking heater and installed the new one quickly with almost no mess. What little mess there was, he cleaned up completely.

I would never hire Kastner Plumbing and Heating again. The plumber came, claimed my existing large access panel covered hole did not allow him to get to the piping higher up the wall. Claimed he would have to cut an additional hole in my wall because he could not cut through the previously repaired soldering joint due to not having the tool that would cut through it. Claimed he had to attach the new shower piping at a higher juncture in the wall. After an hour with him going back and forth to his truck several times for one thing or another, I asked if this was his first job and he claimed he had been working in this field since he was 13. When he failed to correctly measure the copper pipe with the first cut and had to cut again, I noticed he was using a grinding hand cutter to cut through the measured pipe. I asked if he did not have an electric cutter or one that would cut through the copper faster and he claimed it would leave a ragged edge which would have to be sanded down to fit. By the second hour, and him moving slowly and the fixture still in the box, I informed him that I had not budgeted more than 300 dollars for this work. He claimed this replacement would cost $500. At that, I exploded and told him I was a senior citizen and did not have that much money and for him to pack up and leave. It was amazing at how fast he seemed to finish with the plumbing after that. However, the hole in my wall which he made, was not repaired and was just plugged back in place with the cutout and left for me to pay someone else to repair it. The final bill presented was for $429.50. I received a deduction from a $20 coupon. For someone who did not have to supply the faucet unit just the labor and a small length of copper pipe, this cost and work was atrocious. When I signed the receipt I made sure to cross out the bottom line which stated the work "was satisfactory completed". ALL I CAN SAY IS USE Kastner Plumbing & Heating AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!! The job should have cost no more than $300 since I supplied the faucet unit and should have taken no more than an hour to complete. Previously I received a $200 estimate from another company but chose to use a plumber from Angie's list instead. I have photos but was unable to upload them to this site. UPDATE 3-16-18 This is an update to the scalding review I previously. What happened in my review remains but I must give Kudos to the owner/manager. He did call after reading my review and apologized that I was not satisfied and ending up refunding me the entire money I paid. Hopefully, this type of incident will not occur again. Since he was able to make amends, I think they desire a chance. Maybe they will send out a different plumber.

Fine as far as I can remember

Repair a faucet that was leaking outside as well as correct low pressure in toilet due to object being flushed. Had to remove toilet and then remove object.

WOW!! I called Thursday afternoon and they were hear Friday morning. fixed up our problem quick, gave free advice on a question and were out in under an hour!! Thank you thank you! Very professional, patient with our overly friendly dog and left no mess. He even honored my coupon I printed out when he got here!!!! #1

I couldn't have asked for better service and care from Kastner P & H. They didn't even require a payment for having made the trip and solving my problem (I suppose that technically they didn't have to do any work). I will absolutely call them first in the event that I ever DO need a plumber to come and fix something. Highly recommended!

The technician was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He replaced the original kitchen faucet that had been in place for 37 years, checked the garbage disposal, and repaired a failing toilet in the bathroom. The service has excellent and I highly recommend their services!

Mike Kastner provided a detailed estimate about 2 mos prior but bad weather forced us to delay the install until March. They described how the two-day installation would proceed and got our agreement to be without hot water for one night. They would replace the gas line the first day and replace the HWH the second day. As it turned out, the plumber who performed the job exceeded our expectations and left the original HWH working at the end of the first day after he replaced all of the gas pipe with larger pipe. We had hot water that night. The next day he singlehandedly removed the old HWH and brought in the new unit and plumbed everything into place including the new expansion tank which code required since our original installation was done before the code changed. At my request, he also added a capture pan under the new HWH and plumbed a drain line from that pan over to a nearby sump well. He also replaced the 20 year old sump pump,with a new unit. It is a very neat professional installation. At the end of the day everything was in place and worked perfectly. They cleaned up immaculately and left the basement looking as if no one had ever been there save for the new equipment in place. I highly recommend Kastner or AVS Plumbing (their associated company). I also asked them to estimated a future fixture replacement job for me which they did. We will be asking them to return in the very near future.

Kastner Plumbing was awesome! They were on time, knowledgeable, and did a fabulous job. They were very professional and polite. Customer service like that provided by these folks is hard to come by and is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend them and I will certainly use them in the future for all my plumbing needs.

It went well. I emailed them saturday, they called monday morning and out her by 12 pm. He came out that day.He explained everything. Very nice and professional. Also took care of problem that another plumber left us with. Thank you for quick response and great service.

I called on a Monday morning and luckily they had someone available and sent him over within an hour. Once the technician arrived he suggested that I replace the whole faucet as a fix will only be just short term. So I ran to Home depot and got a brand new faucet, while the technician was trying to dismantle the existing broken one at home. Once I returned home he quickly fixed everything within a short time. He also replaced a non-working flush handle in one of the toilets.
Overall, it was a very professional clean job. Will re-hire them for other plumbing projects.

Kastner Plumbing played a key role in my project to convert my old dead pool heat pump to a new natural gas heater,  Mr. Kastner came to my house within days of my contacting the office and surveyed the area to fully understand the scope of the project prior to submitting his bid.  Once I hired Kastner and gave my deposit, everyone I dealt with was very responsive and professional in coordinating their part of the project with my other contractors; BGE for an upgraded meter, Sanchez Escapes for the hand-dug 145ft trench, and Todd's Pool Service who supplied and installed the new heater.  Kastner also arranged for Howard County to inspect the line installation before and after the final hookup.  The end result was a clean and professional-looking installation with a perfectly functioning gas pool heater just in time for the season.

I you need a responsive plumber, this is it.  We have an older house and have had minor leaks and a well pressure switch that needed replacement.  as with all plumbing issues, they occur on weekends.  Kastner is very responsive and there the same day, and quickly and efficiently fixes the problem.  On one occasion he was on vacation out o town, but called back within 15 minutes and provided a reference to a colleague.
