Wilson's gives the appearance of being set up to serve contractors, but every time I have been in there (as an individual), I was treated like I was their most important customer. The men behind the counter took all the time needed, came out to show me anything I wanted to see, shared their knowledge, and respected mine. When I asked an employee something he did not know, he would say so, and ask someone else on the spot. When I looked at the final order, I was amazed to see that I had been charged less than the list price on every item. Because my order was over $500, there was only a fuel charge ($7) instead of the delivery charge that I expected. There is a $15 pallet charge for palleted material, but it is refunded when you return the pallet. Quality is top-notch. The wood I bought was better quality than one of the big box stores (with which I am not dissatisfied.) I did not have to pick through wood, and every piece I got was 100% suitable. Delivery was a dream. I ordered the materials in two orders, due to my own needs. The first available date for the first order was two days after I ordered. Because of my own schedule, I had to schedule delivery of the second order a week after I ordered it, so I even had the benefit of picking any time I wanted. Both deliveries were right at the promised time. The men who delivered my lumber were very pleasant. They did not bring the big truck up my driveway, but transferred the materials using a fat-tired forklift, which is perfect for asphalt driveways. They even placed the pallets of concrete in my garage despite the forklift being taller than the opening. Astounding. I have recommended Wilson to friends, and would do so any time.

I used Angie's list to find fence contractors to remove my current fence and build a new one. The prices were way out of my range. (Best price: about $5000 for 210' of fence.) I looked at materials at Home Depot and went online to some other places, which I like, but found that nobody had all of the lumber I needed, and the premade fence sections did not look sturdy.
I went to Wilson, which I have used before. The experience was great. The sales people have a lot of experience, and were quite willing to talk to me about technical questions, and to ask each other if they weren't sure. I had already made drawings and calculated the lumber. They calculated my concrete and gravel for the postholes and we put together an order. I was pleased that delivery was only $7 (They only charge fuel cost for orders over $500.) I ordered bagged concrete and gravel due to the nature of the job, and there was a $15 pallet charge, which I don't know yet whether refundable.
I got delivery the next business day as promised and early in the time window they gave me.The driver made sure he knew exactly where I wanted the materials, even offering to take them by forklift to the back of my property, where I will be working. He did not bring the big truck up my driveway, a thoughtful insight for blacktop driveways in 100 degree weather. Instead, he brought them by forklift from the street. In addition, he offered to and did place the concrete into my garage despite the fact that the forklift is taller than my garage door. (and quot;Experience, and quot; he explained.)
I would use Wilson for any project that uses quality, common building materials. They are not a full-service hardware store, although they did have a steel digging bar I needed that I could not find anywhere else, and their tools are all heavy duty; I believe they serve mostly contractors and farmers.
Super experience all around.
