AVS Plumbing & Heating

Service went smoothly. Have been in this house one year. The toilet was new. Worked with 'Gary,' who's father founded Kastner Plumbing in West Friendship, which acquired AVS back in the 80s. Gary quickly validated the problem, determined that the toilet had not been installed properly; specifically, the wax ring was too thin (toilet base not contacting the ring), and that the screws used to fasten down the underlying flange were two short and had pulled loose. Service took about 50 minutes. Gary was very watchful not to spill water or leave a mess. Nice job.

AVS mechanics are top notch. They arrive right on time as scheduled, and with all of the parts. They work quietly as possible and quickly - they don’t disappear for long breaks or sit around jawboning like some other contractors. If they spot an issue that suggests a change to the original plan, they immediately bring me in to authorize or at least be aware of the change if it doesn’t affect cost or final form and function. Our new range is a semi-professional hybrid (uses both natural gas and electric) and a bit different than the average mass production type. It is much heavier and more difficult to install. But AVS figured it out quickly and got it connected to both the gas and electric. They tested it out and everything worked fine. They left no mess and adjusted the feet on the range to make it level and fit perfectly into the slot. The new gas line to the kitchen was done under a permit. The path from under the floor (basement) where the “T” was installed in the main line, to up behind the range was challenging because of HVAC ducting in the way. But they worked out a good solution and it passed inspection. They also added an easy-to-reach shutoff in the basement ceiling. This was not a cheap job but after watching what they had to do to get everything properly in place, I had no problem writing their check.

They left the place spotless. This is a first class outfit.
