"Customer did not want to pay for our plumber to come and take care of the plumbing on the same day as my installers doing their work. The homeowner chose to do their plumbing on their own. when we turned off their water nothing leaked the entirety of our time at the house. Customer signed our paperwork saying everything was fine and the job was completed. after we left more than 12 hours later their valve/pipe leaked and the customer became upset. They worked with their insurance company and ours and we were found to NOT be at fault at all and not liable for any of the damages. hence the bad review. We highly recommend getting the plumbing done asap after the new sink/faucet/countertops are put on to totally avoid any mishaps that may occur such as this. We also changed the brand new sink that was dent sink and replaced it with another brand new sink. out of hundreds of sinks we order every year and install sometimes we do see damaged sinks from the orders and will always replace the sink if needed and will send the defected sink back to the manufacturer."
So I ask if I can reschedule. Jan tells me they can, but they won't give me a written estimate only a verbal one. And I asked if they could give me a written analysis of the crack in my granite (I'm pursuing a warranty claim with the MD Attorney General), but she said no. I said that's fine to both, and I suggested I just send her the measurements via email rather than have someone come out (thus saving me another day of sitting at home when I could've been at work). Jan's tone becomes increasingly disrespectful: "well, I don't want you to email us measurements unless you're serious about using us." Okay...why do you think I'm calling you seeking an estimate?!
So I let her know that I didn't think a business arrangement was going to work for us. The lack of customer service values from the beginning of the process was alarming. I learned awhile ago that you can tell a LOT about a contractor by how they start the business relationship. She suggested I contact Solid Rock (La Plata) or European Granite (Clinton) instead. So since that's who US Granite recommended, that's who I recommend instead of them, too.
**UPDATE**
After I posted this and received the response below (which could have just said "we're sorry we made you wait all day and didn't follow up with you"), I received several spam comments and ad hominem attacks on my personal blog site from someone associated with the company: "jhos" at
[email protected]. So, fellow consumers be warned. This company not only lacks in customer service but also engages in vindictive actions if you take issue with their service.
"We thank you very much for choosing US Granite Marble based on our client reviews. We value every single client we work for. We have hundreds of clients who LOVE us and keep coming back to us for additional work and other properties and projects they may have. We are a locally owned family business and we take pride in our skills. Part of our success in such a short time has been our client service. Our office staff is second to none and our reviews show as such. This client initially in disguise called our company and scheduled to have an estimate to have granite installed in her kitchen. We called her to let her know that our estimator was going to be coming to her a little later than we scheduled because he was stuck on another job but he will be there a little later. She was fine with the later schedule because she wasn't going to be home for several hours but that someone would be there at the property to let him in and she didn't mind him coming while she was gone. In chatting with her she informed me that we were really coming out to inspect a crack in her granite that another company installed. She asked that when we came out to inspect the crack if we would write her a certified letter saying that the granite was installed incorrectly that is why the granite cracked and she needed that letter to send to the Attorney General to sue the company that initially installed the granite. As a code of ethics to our fellow granite colleagues we would not be able to accommodate her request and we apologized graciously. We suggested that she contact the granite company that installed the granite and work with them on her issues to have them replace it. We assured her that any of the granite companies that we know would do all we could to make our client happy. We here at US Granite Marble respect our fellow granite colleagues and have informed them of this consumers intention and they are well aware of this issue. We will also be forwarding this Google review to them for their records. Respectfully Employees of US Granite Marble Inc."
