Price Oil Co.

This was my first winter having an oil furnace because I recently purchased my home last summer. They provided 100 gallons of oil to my home twice this season. The first time was fine and without issue. The second time, was in January and I started to notice their lack of professionalism. I had an emergency and had run out of oil so, I called at an off hour to leave a message. Someone answered to say they were closed but, I explained my situation and he took my order. He said that I would be put on the delivery schedule for first thing the following morning and I had someone there to accept the service but, that person had to leave around noon and they still hadn't come! I spoke with them and was assured that nobody needed to be there for the delivery so, I am not sure what time they actually arrived. I work far from home and I was concerned that it hadn't been delivered so, I called periodically to check on it. They had no way to tell me definitively whether or not it had been delivered! I got home and my heat still wasn't working so, I assumed that it hadn't been delivered. It was dark outside by then so, I decided to check on things in the morning. In the morning, I went out back and dipped the tank to see that the oil had been delivered. I learned that I had to have my furnace reset and my neighbor helped me with that. The last straw with this company was on today. The first delivery of oil lasted me about 2 months so, I was trying to do better this time and make sure it didn't run out. Well, it ran out a lot more quickly because of the cold whether and I was back in the same situation. I called Price on a Sunday and they said that they were too busy to deliver to me that day but, would come out the next day. It was VERY cold and the temperature in my house was plummeting. They gave me the option to pay by credit card on the phone for an $8 fee or by check the next day at the price of $3.20/gallon. I couldn't locate my credit card so, I said to put me down to pay by check and if I found my credit card I would call back. I called back in the morning around 9:30am trying to make sure that I would get my delivery sooner than later this time and also to place the credit card on my delivery. The man answered the phone and immediately started to say that he couldn't place an order for me because they were too busy and I said "I already have an order sir". He asked for my address and then claimed that he had been calling me the day before to get oil to me that day and didn't get an answer! I said I didn't have any calls or messages from him and that I was at the home all day. He said that I was supposed to call him back with my credit card so, he had canceled my order! He said they were too busy to get me any oil today and to call another company. I couldn't believe my ears! I explained to him that it was 34 degrees in my home and that it was an emergency! He didn't care at all. I had used them twice already this season and had never not paid for services. The first time I ordered with them, I hadn't paid before the service men showed up and my fuel was still delivered and I was given the option to pay right then. Why would my order be canceled and why wouldn't consideration be taken to the fact that I do not have heat in my home? I will NEVER use Price Oil again. I had called other companies the day before and one was willing to come out but, I would have to get on a plan where I paid throughout the year. I opted out of it but, was forced to call them back today. I am now waiting for them to come out this afternoon and it is, of course, freezing. It was so worth it to share my review that I typed it with my frozen fingers.

As always, they delivered the oil the day that I called. Before one of the major snow storms, I learned that they deliver on Sunday's. Compared to their competitors, their prices are reasonable. Recently they started charging an $8 surcharge for credit card users, which I think is a bit on the high side. They do accept personal checks if you don't want to pay the surcharge. It would be nice if they automated their customer list so I didn't have to give my telephone number, address, and credit card information each time I call.

I called on Tuesday and they delivered the oil early Wednesday morning. I have been using them for years and have never had any problems. They are very efficient and always on time.
