Today's service tech was great: skilled, professional, friendly, and courteous. I've had a contract with Belair for approximately 10 years. Although I love their preventive maintenance service, I'm especially impressed by their extremely quick response when corrective action is required.

I have been under contract with Belair Engineering for many years now and could not be happier with the good old-fashioned CUSTOMER SERVICE which they provide.

We have used Belair for years after they were recommended when we purchased our home. So, when our furnace stopped working on 12/13/17, we called Belair to come out to repair. The tech arrived during the established window. He looked at our furnace for all of 5 minutes - did not take out tools - and declared it was beyond repair - we HAD to have a new one. Considering this was less than 3 weeks before Christmas, I asked if there were any other options. No, he says and tells me that our furnace is too old for parts. He claimed we needed a new heat exchange and pointed to a metal box where the furnace ignites. He claimed he had to turn off the furnace completely (it was starting to cycle back on and work again) because it would "kill us" due to carbon monoxide. Again, I inquired as to what I could do to get the current furnace repaired as I did not want to replace. The tech tells me that my only other option was a $4,000.00 part AND it would take 8-10 or more days for the part to come in - a time where I could not run my heat. But don't worry! He can have his Sales guy out in 20 mins! I immediately started to smell the scent of BS in the air. There was a small leak and I asked the Belair tech to look at it. He says the leak proved how broken the furnace was but there was no way he could fix it. He didn't look at it, however. The Sales guy comes and quotes us a new furnace in the neighborhood of $5,000 - $6,000. Fortunately, I ALWAYS get a second opinion when someone wants $5k. The second provider came out on Monday, 12/18/17. The tech from the new company asks the same questions as the first guy...but THIS tech actually takes out tools. Can you imagine that?! The $4k part the previous tech claimed could not be fixed? NOT a singular part at all but a faceplate/cover. The tech tells us the issue and then he fixed the issue. The new tech also looked at the leak. Turned out the drain had a clog - but it was fixable and he fixed the leak in less than five minutes. We asked the new tech about CO2 - tech says is not a problem and explains why in detail. We ask about replacing the furnace - tech explains that it IS an older system that does need to be replaced eventually - maybe even in the next 1-2 years... But we do not have to replace it right now. When the new tech left, I had a toasty warm house and my pocketbook was only lighter by $140 instead of $5,000. I called Belair to complain - and the person I spoke to tried to claim their tech was correct. I call shenanigans. He claimed that the new tech should have never opened the cover. I call shenanigans. He tries to scare me by telling me "Flames were shooting" from our furnace and reminding me how old my furnace is. I call shenanigans. I also told him I wanted a refund - he said he will have someone contact me about that. I think that Belair has begun to make a habit of this. They have TWO Angie's List profiles and the second one has many other reviews showing that Belair is much more concerned with selling new furnaces than repair work. Of course, they have won awards from Carrier - the furnace they sell the most - for top sales. Hmmmmm... OTHER Angie's List profile for Belair: [*** Link removed ***]

This one gives you the first five years of maintenance check for free. So for five years, you don't have to pay anything for the maintenance checks. All you have to do is call. That saves you about $3000.

One of the reasons I chose to go with this company is that they had done similar jobs in homes like mine before. The person who provided the estimate was professional and gave a detailed explanation of all work that would be performed. The installation took the amount of time estimated, the job was completed as agreed, and the workers cleaned up after themselves before they left. A manager also showed up when the job was done to make sure the system was functioning correctly. Company seems to work like a well-oiled machine.

Belair Engineering and their technicians (Justin) are professionals. They provided honest feedback about what needed servicing, replacement and overall maintenance without trying to convince the client to replace all, even if fixable. They arrived at the promised time, and performed an excellent job with maintenance, replacement and servicing (HVAC, and water heater). The price was very reasonable. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for these services.

The technician was very helpful in showing me where to find the knobs to set. He also gave me things to look for in the future including flushing the system. I also liked when the technician was processing my credit card over the phone, he put his phone on speaker so I could hear what he was doing! Nice touch.

Very well. I have been a customer of Belair Engineering for a number of years. I have always received excellent service from their technicians. They have always been courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. The service I received on 10/25/16 was no different. John S., the technician, was unable to arrive at my home at the scheduled time (8AM-1PM), but he did call at a reasonable time to let me know that he was running a little behind schedule and would arrive at 1:30PM. He did. I really appreciated his and the company's concern for my time which is very important. He did an excellent job of inspecting and cleaning my fireplace. I hope to continue my relationship with Belair Engineering and would recommend them to anyone in need of the services they provide.

Belair Engineering did great work peparing for the job and installing the water heater and the associated equipment. They worked expertly in a tight space and were cleverly able to remove the old water heater and install the new water heater without cutting an access hole in the wall next to the tight space..

Tech arrived within the prescribed window, and completed his work quickly but thoroughly. Work included changing filters, checking the system, testing it for heat (and none too soon!).

He gets major props for coming into the house with our new dog who has serious protection issues. She was, of course, leashed. He was great about following instructions and made sure to announce when he was approaching.

I listed cost as $0 because we have a yearly maintenance contract, and I don't recall the price. But it is well worth it - the company is very responsive, organized, and customer-focused.

They were very punctual, worked well with my parents, did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.
