During the project there were other issues but these comments are confined to the initial work. The work took much longer than promised, but everyone says that. There were quality issues that seem bizarre such as reinstalling old dirty light switches and outlets, framing the bath room with an odd notch. Reinstalling the back door such that it could not clearly open, framing the kitchen island too short. The back splash outlets are not inline. The kitchen base cabinets and the appliances are not aligned. It's as if we will need to take the cabinets off the wall and reinstall so that they are straight. Later we learned the electrical pan boxes were not labeled correctly and the switch boxes were not installed properly. Some of these issues we caught in process and the Contractor corrected. Afterwards I sent a list to the contractor of outstanding issues and there's been no resolution.
As with old houses there were unplanned issues that the contractor had to resolve. There was also a leak of disputed origin, and the contractor came out in an emergency. By and large the work was done well, although at times the contractor's staff cut corners, and made mistakes that were not acceptable.

It went very well. The kitchen looks wonderful.

There is nothing that he has not been able to do for us. He has saved us many times. The overall experience was excellent. Everyone comments on the work. It is just so gorgeous. He does whatever he says he is going to do and in the time he says he will do it. Whatever it takes he is going to make his deadline. We don't even get quotes because he is going to beat everybody. He is beyond good, he is excellent. He knows what he is doing. It is a family business and his two sons are certified, licensed, and thoroughly trained. He only works in DC.
