RWS Decks

Choosing a contractor who is trustworthy, has integrity, and offers outstanding quality of workmanship can be a gamble, but I definitely won with RWS Decks. Ray's professionalism, knowledge of the industry, attention to detail, and standard of perfection are beyond all praise. It's also quite apparent that his hard-working, highly skilled, and punctual assistant is equally invested in the quality of work. On top of all this, Ray is a genuine, good-natured, and jolly guy with the patience of a saint. If my many questions and emails ever bothered him, it never showed. I'm absolutely thrilled with my new deck, and wholeheartedly endorse RWS Decks.

We quoted three deck builders, and chose RWS due to Ray's expertise, professionalism, and most of all, his passion for building decks. It was evident right from the beginning that Ray loves what he does, and does not settle for work that is less than perfect. He and his crew were a pleasure to work with, and always responded immediately with any question we had. He was able to work within our budget, and never attempted to "up-sell" any feature or product. The final product was simply outstanding. Our only regret was not working with Ray years ago--we did not entertain too often with our previous deck, but now have friends and family come on a regular basis--every visitor has been impressed with the work (it looks much more expensive than it is), and one friend even told us that she "feels like she's at a resort." I cannot overstate how happy we are with our new deck, and I have told more than one friend that if they are planning on getting a new deck, they would be a fool not to call Ray.

Ray came to the house to discuss what I wanted.  At the time I thought I wanted a gray composite deck floor to match my house's siding, but he suggested the Ipe color which turned out to be just wonderful, matching the color of the vinyl "stone" tile in my kitchen, from which the deck opens.  I knew TREX would be expensive, but it's guaranteed for 25 years and all you have to do is wash it off.  He gave me a professional estimate, and answered the remaining questions I had.  
The original deck was dismantled and the new deck built in five-six working days by his partner.  I gave them access to the house but didn't have to be there.  The deck boards themselves are on the diagonal, which is part of Ray's signature style, and makes the deck look larger.  The other element of his signature is that the corners of the deck are not 90-degree angles, but instead use two posts to "cut across" the corner.  
I am very happy with the deck.  I paid high end, but I have rarely been more satisfied with an outlay of money.  I think my return on investment, whenever I come to sell this house in the future, will be at least double or perhaps triple.

Ray, the owner of RWS, was outstanding.  I was able to tell that he is passionate about his work; he is very involved in his trade associations, so he was up on the latest materials and practices.  He explained everything and made valuable suggestions as far as design.  The quality of workmanship was outstanding.  This company delivered as promised and stands behind their work.  I used him in 2001 and again for my new house in 2014.  I would highly recommend this company.

We got 4 estimates. Ray was the only one who recommended changes which were great ideas and saved us about $8000. He also suggested some great ideas for additions and materials which helped the appearance and usefulness of the decks. The guys on the crew were very friendly and professional. We had tremendous confidence in the design and work. We would hire them again without hesitation, and we recommend anyone who needs deck work get in touch with Ray. You won't find any better and you won't be disappointed.

Great. Very pleased.Very professional and great work. Had gotten several estimates. Prices were not vastly different but I felt very comfortable choosing Ray. Seemed like a genuinely good guy. His staff wad also extremely professional. Turned out to be a great choice.
